Carolina had a chance to cut into the lead late in the 4th quarter but Young got picked off by Brown for a second time and the Niners defense would close out the game to push the Niners 8-4 on the season.

The Panthers would respond as Young got hot for a series. He hit McMillan for the deep TD pass to put Carolina back in the game.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM SAN FRAN!!!

Star watch: Panthers

The Carolina Panthers were on the verge of completely offloading their QB Bryce Young after drafting on to a team that was not ready to compete, and that couldn’t get the coaching situation right on the sideline. Now it seems that Young is the long term QB in Carolina. It’s been a strange year for the QB, who must have been feeling the lasting pressure coming into his season. It’s been hot and cold with Young this year, who only has two games over 200 yards, and one of those came last week in a career high 448 yard game, and the other in Week 2 when he had 328 yards and 3 TDs. He knows he doesn’t need to do that every game but has shown he is capable of doing that should this game turn into a shootout.

Star watch: Niners

Brock Purdy came back last week, and showed that he is ready to take the reigns again in the Bay. He was hurt in Week 2 against the Saints, and even though he would try and return just a couple games later, he was sidelined until last week. The Niners have held their heads above water despite being decimated by injury. San Fran paid big money to their QB, and he had nearly 600 yards, 4 TDs and 4 INTs in the first two games, and came back with 200 yards, and 3 TDs last week in Arizona. Purdy is back on primetime and the whole world is going to get a glimpse of how that injury is progressing and how the Niners look with their franchise QB back on the field.

Niners at Levi’s

The Niners are 7-4 that’s the good news. On top of that, four of their final six games are at home, including tonight’s game against the Panthers. That sounds like more good news, except when you take into account the Niners are just 2-2 at home. They have beaten the Cardinals and the Hawks, two teams with terrible records, and lost to the Jags and the Rams who are both above .500. Tonight it’s going to be up to Purdy and the Niners to turn things around at home heading into the final stretch of the season.

McCaffrey’s reunion

We have a reunion between one of the best players in the league, and one of the NFL’s former worst teams ever. The Niners made a mid season trade for Christian McCaffrey who was wasting away in Carolina for years, and immediately made the Niners into a Super Bowl contender. They went to the NFC Championship his first year, and then he helped them get to the Super Bowl in a year he was named Offensive Player of the Year. Last year was a disaster that was filled with injury, but he is back to his best and looking to remind the Panthers of exactly what he can do on the ground and through the air. This year, he has more receiving yards, (732) than rushing yards (707) with six rushing TDs and five TD catches.

NFC Standings

Taking a look at the standings in the NFC, we see the Niners and the Panthers currently in the hunt for the playoffs but things are tight around the conference. After Tampa Bay’s 3 game losing skid, the Panthers are all of the sudden tied at the top of the NFC South with the Bucs. They trail TB because of a tie break, but they have a game against TB coming up in a couple weeks. The Niners are currently third in the NFC West, trailing the Rams and Seahawks. LA are leading the division and the Seahawks would be the top Wild Card if the season ended today. With the Packers and Lions sitting at 7 wins, along with the Niners things are getting awfully interesting in the chase for the Wild Card.

Niners last game

Fo the first time since Week 4, the Nines got their face of the franchise back under center as Brock Purdy returned from injury and the Niners jumped all over the Arizona Cardinals. Purdy threw 3 TDs passes and 200 yards in his return as San Fran went up 25-10 in the first half. They would stretch the lead to 35-10 with a few minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and would stroll to an easy division win in the desert.

Panthers last game

The Panthers were locked in a high scoring game with the Atlanta Falcons and Bryce Young had the best game of his young career against a wounded ATL defense. The Panthers started the game with a TD in the first quarter, but three straight TDs from the Falcons had Carolina down 21-3 just before the halftime break. Young would catch fire in the 2nd half, passing for most of his 448 yards while connecting on a couple of his three TDs after the halftime break. His last TD, to Tetairoa McMillan gave the Panthers a three point lead with 1:08 to go but ATL would set up a field goal from 45 yards out that pushed the game to OT. The Falcons got the ball first but they were held to a three and out and then Ryan Fitzgerald drills a 28 yard field goal to seal the game for Carolina.

We are live from the Bay

Hello everyone and welcome to the Bay where the Niners are back home coming off of a win and looking to break a trend of exchanging wins and losses that stretches back to Week 3. San Fran are falling behind in the division race and need to string a few wins together to stay in the NFC West race and the Wild Card chase. Meanwhile the Panthers are threatening to take the lead in the division after turning things around this season thanks to their fantastic running game and stiff defense that has brought some hope back to Charlotte. Tonight, both of these teams need this game, and this could be a game that we look back on at the end of the season.

Panthers vs. Niners

Who would have though that this game would be loaded with playoff implications for both of these teams? Who would have thought that just one game would separate these two teams after 11 weeks? It’s the Carolina Panthers heading to San Francisco in a game with plenty of playoff implications and AS English will be with you all night long providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’ Monday Night Showdown from Levi’s Stadium.
