Patrick Mahomes’ father arrested for violating probation terms in Texas
The father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback violated the probation he was given a couple of years ago by driving while intoxicated.

Patrick Mahomes has unexpectedly become one of the most talked‑about names heading into the biggest week of the NFL season. With Super Bowl LX set for this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Chiefs quarterback—who missed the postseason after Kansas City’s early exit—has found himself in the spotlight for reasons far removed from football.
The off‑field attention comes after the arrest of his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., a former professional baseball player. According to TMZ Sports, Mahomes Sr. was taken into custody in Tyler, Texas, on Tuesday, February 3, for violating his probation after being stopped for allegedly driving under the influence.
“Mahomes was jailed for a probation violation… and the report indicates he registered a high alcohol reading,” the outlet reported early Wednesday morning.

Patrick Mahomes’ father could face up to 10 years in prison
This isn’t the first time Mahomes Sr. has faced legal trouble. His latest arrest mirrors a similar incident in 2024, just days before the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to secure their second straight Super Bowl title. At that time, he was also arrested for driving under the influence and was sentenced to five years of probation.
By violating that agreement, Mahomes Sr. now risks triggering the full penalty outlined in the original terms—potentially up to 10 years in prison. The situation places the former MLB player, and father of the three‑time Super Bowl champion, in a difficult legal position at a moment when his son is once again at the center of the NFL conversation.
