Wiley finds a hole up the middle and he breaks into the secondary, but a holding call will take the first down off the board and back the Commanders up.

WR screen to Rosemy-Jacksaint and he picks up 4 yards on the left side.

Wiley moves the chains with a run up the middle out of the shot gun.

Driskel tucks it and runs up the middle, lunging for the first down marker, but he is cut down a half yard short of the marker.
4th and 1 from the NE 41.
Driskel over the middle for Tinsley and he turns up field for an 8 yard gain.

Screen pass for Wiley but he is dragged down for a loss of two after the Pats sniffed that out.

Driskel over the middle for Pringle on a 10 yard pitch and catch to move the chains.

Short gain of one yard on the first down run by McNichols.

Driskel roll to the right side and he throws a dart to Tinsley for a gain of 14 for a first down.

WAS take over from the 20 McNichols picks up 6 yards on first down.

Screen pass for Hasty who was stopped short of the marker after a gain of six.

Maye looking for Reagor on the slant from the right side and that pass slipped right through the WR's hands.

Harris gets the carry on the left side but a holding call will bring the Pats back 10 yards.

Maye took a shot for Osborne deep down the right side and that overthrown pass was almost picked.

After an illegal formation Maye's pass to the right side was behind his WR.

Maye's pass was tipped at the line and and it came up just short.
3rd and 11 from the NE 11.
NE take over at the 20, and it's Harris who gets taken down for a loss of one on the run to the left side.
2nd and 11 from the NE 11.
Driskel to Rodriguez again over the middle, but he is taken down after a short gain of 9.
4th and 10 from the WAS 31.
After a false start, Driskel finds Rodriguez for a gain of 6 yards.
3rd and 19 from the WAS 21.
Driskel's pass over the middle was a bit too far behind his receiver.
2nd and 20 from the WAS 19.
WAS get the ball back from the 29, and Rodriguez gets the handoff to the right side, but a holding call will bring that 8 yard run back.
1st and 20 from the WAS 19.
Douglas gets the dump off at the line of scrimmage and is taken down for no gain.
4th and 8 from the NE 30.
WR screen for Davis but is he ripped down for a loss of one in the backfield.
3rd and 8 from the NE 30.
After a false start on NE, Hasty gets the handoff and he picks up 8 yards before getting pushed out of bounds.
2nd and 7 from the NE 31.
NE get the ball from their 14 and it's Maye still under center. Maye lost his shoe on the snap exchange but it didn't stop him from finding Hasty out of the backfield for a 14 yard gain.
1st and 10 from the NE 28.
Driskel tried to tuck it and run for the first down but he is dragged down by White for a loss of a yard.
4th and 4 from the WAS 31.
Draw play out of the shot gun for McNichols and he takes it 11 yards to the left side before getting pushed out of bounds.
3rd and 3 from the WAS 32.
WE ARE AT THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER!!!
Driskel finds Tinsley over the middle and that pick up goes for 6 yards on the final play of the quarter.
2nd and 16 from the WAS 21.
WAS get the ball back from the 25 and Driskel finds Tinsley in the flat but an offensive pass interference on Tremayne will back the Commanders up.
1st and 20 from the WAS 15.
Maye did a lot on that drive, but it was Harris who polished it off by breaking a tackle and taking it for six.
The Rookie had two of these passes on this drive. He looks comfortable, he looks poised and he looks ready to be the starter.
Maye had a couple of nice throws on that first drive, but it wouldn't have been possible without this 17 yard scramble on third down.
TOUCHDOWN PATRIOTS!!!
Short pass from Maye to Harris on the left sideline and he spins out of a tackle, and speeds towards the endzone for an 18 yard TD catch and run!
NE take a 7-0 lead with under a minute to go in the 1st quarter.
Maye with a little jump pass to the RB out of the backfield but that altered throw was a bit too high.
2nd and 10 from the WAS 18.
Maye with a beautiful touch pass on the left sideline for Douglas on a 16 yard pitch and catch for a first down.
1st and 10 from the WAS 18.
Maye looks left to Thornton with a short pass for a gain of 4 yards.
3rd and 8 from the WAS 34.
Hesty gets swallowed up in the backfield for a loss of 2 yards.
2nd and 12 from the WAS 38.
Maye's pass was batted down by a rush up the middle from WAS, but an illegal hands to the face on WAS will give NE a first down.
1st and 10 from the WAS 36.
Another fumble from the snap and Maye has to fall on it for a loss of 3 yards.
2nd and 13 from the WAS 41.
Maye steps up in the pocket and drops a dime over the middle for Polk on the crossing pattern for a 29 yard catch and run!
1st and 10 from the WAS 38.
Hasty up the middle and he gets a nice chunk of 8 yards on first down.
2nd and 2 from the NE 33.
Maye tucks it and runs up the middle and he sprints for a 17 yard scramble and a first down!
1st and 10 from the NE 25.
Out pattern on the right side and he finds Polk for a 4 yard gain.
3rd and 14 from the NE 8.
Fumbled snap out of the shotgun for Maye's first play and he's got to fall on it for a loss of 8.
2nd and 18 from the NE 6.
The Pats take over from their 12 and it's Maye under center for the Patriots.
Driskel rolls to the right side and finds Rodriguez on the right side for a gain of 7 but he's going to be short of the marker.
4th and 3 from the WAS 49.
Driskey looking over the middle and Turner had to stretch for it, and it almost got intercepted after the TE got his fingertips on it.
3rd and 10 from the WAS 42.
Driskel looking for Turner up the seam, but the pass was batted down by Bledsoe.
2nd and 10 from the WAS 42.
Another handoff to McNichols and he moves the chains with a 1 yard run.
1st and 10 from the WAS 42.
McNichols gets the handoff to the right side and he is stopped just short of the marker.
3rd and 1 from the WAS 40.
McNichols up the middle with a tough run for 7 yards on first down.
2nd and 3 from the WAS 39.
Driskel hangs in the pocket and takes a shot but he dumped it down to Tinsley for a 10 yard pick up and a first down.
1st and 10 from the WAS 32.
Driskel rolls to the right side and finds Pringle on the right sideline for the big gain, but he had stepped out of bounds on his route and a flag flies for illegal touching.
3rd and 8 from the WAS 22.
WAS take over from their 20 and it's McNichols up the middle getting 2 yards out of the shotgun. Driskel is in under center for the Commanders.
2nd and 7 from the WAS 23.
Brissett with plenty of time in the pocket and he was looking for Osborn on the left sideline but he couldn't reel in the one handed catch deep down the field. May have been able to get his second hand up to have a better chance to bring that pass in, but the Pats will punt.
4th and 11 from th WAS 48.
Brissett shakes off the sack and finds Bell over the middle for a gain of 6 yards.
3rd and 11 from the WAS 48.
Henry breaks through the line and drops Brissett for a loss of 7 yards after the play action left him exposed in the backfield.
2nd and 17 fro the NE 46.
Gibson gets it back and moves the chains again with a six yard pick up.
1st and 10 from the WAS 43.
Gibson picks up 5 yards on the first down run up the middle.
2nd and 5 from the NE 46.
Brissett felt the rush and dumped it off to Gibson out of the backfield and he takes it 12 yards for a first down.
1st and 10 from the NE 41.
Gibson gets the handoff to th left side and he is stopped after a gain of 5.
3rd and 5 from the NE 28.
Quick pass to Gibson on the right side and that short pass was too tall for his RB.
2nd and 10 from the NE 23.

Cut day coming up
It’s the day that dreams either come true or are shattered. There are a lot of guys on the field tonight that will be playing the the pressure and stress of cut day shadowing them for all four quarters. In just a few days coaches of all 32 teams will have to trim their rosters to 53 men, which means there is going to be a lot of players earn the right to be on the roster, while others have their dream shattered. This is the last chance to impress coaches before they have to have their official roster completed on Tuesday, August 27th.
Last season: Commanders
Washington surprised a lot of people last year when they won their first two games of the season as Sam Howell was making his case to be the permanent QB in the nation’s capital. The Commanders would then lose three in a row and while the defense gave up 34+ points in each of those games. Things would only get worse as Washington won just two more games for the whole season and it would end up costing head coach Ron Rivera his job. They ended the year on an eight game winning streak, but on the bright side, it earned them the No. 2 pick in the draft.
Last season: Patriots
Last year brought the end of an era to Foxborough as Bill Belichick’s reign finished on a sour note. After more than two decades and six Super Bowls titles the Patriots parted ways with the legendary coach. They won just two of their first 12 games, and cut ties with their former first round QB Mac Jones who was bench for the final third of the season. The dreadful season opened up the door to new beginnings and now the Pats come into this year with a rookie head coach and potentially a rookie QB in Week 1.
Star watch: Commanders
We aren’t going to see Jayden Daniels tonight unfortunately. The good news for him and for Commanders fans is he will be playing in the season opener in two weeks time. Of all the rookie QBs that have made a splash in preseason, Daniels has been the most consistent, or at least as consistent as you can be playing a handful of snaps in two games. He went 2/3 with one long pass for 42 yards, and scored an opening drive TD with a three yard run to begin his NFL career. In the next game he had drives of 9 and 10 plays and got his team into field goal range while going 10/12 for 78 yards. None of the starters will play tonight for the Commanders, so that means tonight is going to be all about the guys on the cut line. This could be a make or break night for players from both sides.
Star watch: Patriots
Tonight is all about the Patriots No. 3 overall draft pick Drake Maye. He’s got a chance to take the starting job today, although offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Jacoby Brissett is currently the QB1. If there is any uncertainty at all, both QBs should play tonight but we should get a heavy dose of Maye in the preseason finale. Maye was 2/3 for 19 yards in the Pats first game, and 6/11 for 47 yards last game. Those numbers don’t quite scream starting QB, but it’s preseason and he hasn’t had that continuity that a starting QB gets during the regular season. There is no need to tell you that New England is desperate for some stability at the QB position. Tom Brady showed this fan base how to be ultra demanding and now the incumbents are trying to appease the title hungry supporters.
Commanders last game
The Commanders took on the Dolphins last week in Miami and could only muster two field goals against the Fins D. Jayden Daniels started the game under center and played the first two drives of the day, leading his team into field goal range on both drives. Rilley Patterson hit one of those two field goals but the offense didn’t do much more after Daniels went to the bench. The Dolphins would hold off the Commanders for the rest of the game, but coach Dan Quinn saw enough of Daniels to name him the starter after the game.
Last game: Patriots
Last week the Pats hosted the Eagles in Foxborough and lost the game in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. That was the bad news. The good news was Drake Maye had his best showing, leading two scoring drives in the first half. He went just 6/11 for 47 yards in the air, but had a rushing TD that put the Pats up 10-0. Maye would play into the third quarter, but not do a whole lot with the offense in his two second half drives. Joe Milton came in and led a field goal drive to stretch the lead to 13-6, but the Eagles came back and took the lead with a fourth quarter field goal and a TD with under 5:00 to go in the game. Bailey Zappe tried to lead one final charge down field but he fumbled a snap and the Eagles recovered to end the game.

Hello everyone and welcome to the nation’s capital where football fans around the world celebrate this game, because they know these will be the final snaps of football we see until Week 1 kicks off in two Thursday’s time. The Washington Commanders come into this game knowing who their quarterback will be for the season opener, but the Patriots come into tonight with the starting job still undecided. Jacoby Brissett has started each of the first three games for the Pats, but Drake Maye has made improvement’s in each and every game he has played. Tonight may or may not determine the Pats starter in Week 1, but it wouldn’t hurt to put on a show tonight.
Patriots vs. Commanders
It’s the final game of the NFL preseason tonight from Commanders Stadium and we are ending it with a bang. One team has a QB competition that is coming down to the wire, while the other team has already given their rookie QB the keys to the car for Week 1. It’s the New England Patriots taking on the Washington Commanders from Landover and AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, scores and highlights of tonight’s preseason finale.
