Having returned to the Super Bowl under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots will look to add a seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy to their collection.

And history appears to be on New England’s side: most of its titles have come while wearing its white alternate uniforms, a trend the franchise seems eager to continue in the Drake Maye era.

As the administrative “home” team for Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks, the Patriots announced on Thursday that they’ll take the field on February 8 in white, a look that has brought them plenty of success on the sport’s biggest stage.

Four-time winners in white

New England captured four of its six Super Bowl championships during the Tom Brady–Bill Belichick dynasty while wearing white, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, and Los Angeles Rams in those matchups.

The Patriots’ other two Super Bowl victories came in their traditional blue uniforms - but both their title-game losses to the New York Giants, in 2007 and 2011, also came in blue. That bit of superstition has pushed New England to stick with what works and lean into the white‑jersey tradition.

The numbers back it up: teams wearing white have won 37 of the 59 Super Bowls played to date, a striking trend that continues to influence wardrobe choices on the big stage.

The Patriots’ lone Super Bowl loss in white

Of course, there’s another side to the story. Despite New England’s strong track record in white, the franchise has experienced defeat in the color as well.

That loss came in Super Bowl LII against the Eagles, who, led by Nick Foles, toppled the Brady‑era dynasty in one of the most memorable championship games in recent history.
