Peyton Manning is happy with his nephew Arch Manning’s Texas commitment

The No. 1 prospect in the class of 2023 has committed to Texas and his Hall of Fame uncle couldn’t be happier.

Update:
Star college prospect Arch Manning has committed his future to Texas University and his Hall of Fame uncle Peyton Manning couldn't be happier.

With what appears to be a gifted throwing arm, the nephew of one of NFL’s Hall of Famers appears to have taken his uncle’s words of wisdom to heart.

Peyton Manning spoke with Arch Manning about his future career

As one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, there is perhaps nobody better than Peyton Manning to give you advice when it comes to choosing which college to play for, which is precisely why his nephew took in his perspective. As a 5 star quarterback, it’s clear that there is a bright future ahead of Arch Manning and now that he has taken the decision to end his recruiting process early and in turn commit to Texas, he seems to be following in his uncle’s footsteps. Indeed, Peyton Manning was also a highly coveted college recruit back in the early 1990s.

Speaking about his nephew, the former Denver Broncos star was open about the discussion that he had with him. “The relationships you make in high school just don’t go away,” Peyton told reporters recently at the Manning Passing Academy. “That’s why I’m glad for his sake that he made this decision. I did have a conversation with him last week after he made his last visit, because he asked about when I made my decision.” Peyton does of course leave his nephew with some big shoes to fill. After all he not only was the greatest player ever in his school’s history, winning the SEC in 1997 with Tennessee, but he would go on to embark on an 18 season Hall of Fame career in the NFL before the curtain finally came down.

So who is Arch Manning?

Recently ranked No. 1 in the Class of 2023, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound signal-caller from Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans has thrown for 6,307 yards, 81 touchdowns and has rushed for 19 more scores in three seasons. Need more? Manning is one of only seven prospects and three quarterbacks to ever receive a perfect 1.0000 rating in the 247Sports Composite. Manning not only has “all the physical tools desired at the quarterback position,” according to the report, but also displays “exceptional intuition and awareness, showing the ability to command and navigate the game at a very high level.”

What did Arch Manning have to say?

Where the young man himself is concerned, he was also candid about his decision and the thought process behind it. “I just remember when I got back from my last visit, I basically announced where I was going two days later because I knew. When you know, you know and there’s no point in dragging it out and creating some drama.” As the fanfare surrounding his commitment continues, no doubt the young QB will be focused on the potential opportunity at achieving his own legacy. Texas will be in the SEC as of 2025, which means Arch will indeed get the chance to play against his uncle’s Tennessee as well as his grandfather’s ‘Ole Miss’ Can he be the best Manning of them all?
