The Playmaker, Dallas Cowboys legend, Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has opened an upscale sports bar and restaurant in The Colony, outside of Dallas. The 7,000 square foot space will offer “great food, cocktails, and company”, and will honor all Cowboys players from the past and present with artwork and memorabilia set up around the restaurant.

Inside Playmakers88 is a huge replica of the Cowboys Ring of Honor, with photos of the Cowboys legends like Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and of course, the third Triplet, Irvin himself. There are 50 flat-screen TVs available to watch the Cowboys games and the restaurant seats over 250 people. If it’s not gameday, then you can enjoy the surround sound, music, and pool table.

The menu is the creation of Celebrity Chef Rassuan “RJ” Johnson, with some bar classics like hamburgers and chicken wings, and his special touch on crab cakes and other seafood dishes. There is also a large variety of specialty cocktails to choose from, plus a selection of 20 domestic and imported beers on tap.

Playmakers 88: The grand opening!

The grand opening of Plamakers88 is a two-day event beginning this Friday, July 12 at 5 p.m. On Friday, there will be live music, stand-up comedy by actor and comedian Tommy Davidson, as well as some celebrity appearances. On Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be entertainment and activities for families, autographs, photo opportunities, and giveaways.

A percentage of the proceeds earned over the opening weekend will be given to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Dallas, a cause close to Irvin’s heart. In June, Irvin announced that his wife Sandy suffers from early onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 58. When he made the announcement ahead of the soft opening of Playmakers 88, he said it was because it reminded him of how much she loved chef RJ’s chicken wings.

“My hope is that each person who visits Playmakers88 feels the excitement, energy, and love that I have for the entire sports community and the overall DFW area,” said Irvin.

Playmakers88 will be open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight and is located at 5005 State Highway 121 in The Colony.
