Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced at a news conference that wide receiver Cooper Kupp has been placed on the injured reserve roster due to a sprained ankle.

“It’s significant,” McVay said of losing Kupp. “We have to be able to say ‘Let’s raise our heads, let’s take a look at who we’re going to play, what they do well, align the game plan to them and try to develop them from their skills.”

Kupp was injured in the fourth quarter of their loss against the Arizona Cardinals. Before the injury, the Super Bowl LVI MVP had 812 yards and six touchdowns after catching 75 passes thrown his way.

The wide receiver will have surgery on Wednesday and will miss at least the next four Rams games. During that span of time, the Los Angeles team will face the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders.

With Kupp’s absence, the Rams wide receiving corps will consist of Ben Skowronek, Van Jefferson, Tutu Atwell, Allen Robinson II, Brandon Powell and Lance McCutcheon. Their practice squad includes Jacob Harris and Austin Trammel.

Other injuries

The Rams’ offensive line still can’t find healthy players to protect the quarterbacks. Tackle Alaric Jackson has a clotting problem and he will receive treatment to thin his blood, which will cause him to miss the rest of the season.

In addition, Chandler Brewer, who plays right guard, suffered a knee ligament injury. The offensive lineman will undergo surgery and will be out for up to six weeks.
