The Los Angeles Rams are going to the NFC Championship after beating the Chicago Bears with a game winning overtime field goal from Soldier Field.

In the snowy, windy, frigid conditions it was Harrison Mevis who won the game for the Los Angeles Rams to send them to the NFC Championship game and end the Bears season in front of their home fans at Soldier Field. The Rams will head to Seattle next week as the NFC West rivals will square off in a rubber match that will decide who goes to the Super Bowl.
The Bears looked like they were on the verge of another comeback win after the defense held LA who got the ball in OT first. After the miracle toss from Williams, he tossed his third pick of the night, this one by Kam Curl and that would set up LA for the walk off winner.
The Rams looked like they were going to win it, but on another 4th down play, it was Caleb Williams pulling a rabbit out of his hat and launching this fade away Hail Mary to Cole Kmet to tie this game up and send it to OT.
The Bears got all the way down inside the five, but the LA defense locked down again. They stopped them on four straight plays, and kept Chicago from tying up the game with 3:00 to go.
Kyren Williams got into the end zone for a second time, this time putting the Rams up 17-10 with under 9:00 to go in the fourth quarter. Williams had 87 yards and two TDs on 21 yards and he was huge on a cold, snowy night from Chicago.
Cobie Durant came up with his second pick of the game, picking off Caleb Williams who only threw seven INTs all regular season long. The Rams won the take away battle against a team that had the best take away plus/minus in the league.
The Bears tied the game up with a TD on the first play of the second quarter. Caleb Williams found DJ Moore with this TD pass on a fourth down play inside the five.
Kyren Williams and the Rams offense drove down the field and put points on the board first with this five yard TD to put the road team on top.

Rookie Super Bowl winning coaches
Ben Johnson has a chance to make history this season. Not only has this been a remarkable turnaround season in Chicago, but this is his rookie year as a head coach in the NFL He came from Detroit, turned the tides in Chicago, and led them to the playoffs. Now he has his eyes set on the NFC Championship game and more. If he does get the Bears to the Super Bowl and end up winning it, he would join an elite list of NFC rookie coaches to win the Super Bowl in his rookie year.
Stafford in the winter weather
We already know its going to be cold in Chicago. That's part of the home field advantage when your a two seed that plays in a cold weather stadium. Matt Stafford played most of his career in Detroit, but he played in a dome. While he had games in Chicago and Green Bay, his home base was inside the comfort of Ford Field. Tonight he will return to the frigid weather of Chicago and his numbers really aren’t bad in freezing conditions. He’s 3-3 with over 1,500 yards, 15 TDs and three INTs, but when you mix cold and inclement conditions he is 1-9 and that’s what he’s facing tonight against the Bears from Soldier Field.

While the photo below would have you thing this is a balmy afternoon, but don't be fooled. Temps are supposed to get down to the teens with a wind chill that is hanging around zero. There is a chance of snow and if that’s the case both offenses are going to have to figure out how to run the ball in the weather and then take advantage of the occasional pass. There is nothing like a snowglobe game but the Rams will be crossing their fingers that it holds off until the final whistle.
MVP votes are in
It's a two horse race for the NFL MVP. Matt Stafford is a seasoned vet with a Super Bowl to his name and a future Hall of Famer. Despite his extensive resume, he has never been in contention for an MVP in any of the nearly 20 seasons throughout his career. The other candidate is a second year stud that has led the New England Patriots to the Division Round. Both are looking to get their team into the Conference Championship, and while they might be able to lead their teams to the “semifinals” they apparently won’t be able to change their MVP odds this weekend.

Caleb Williams has had quite the second year in the NFL after a rookie year that was full of struggle and sacks. This year he set goals for himself hoping to throw for 4,000 yards, and complete 70% of his passes to become the first Bears QB to achieve these feats. He threw for 3,942 yards, and 27 TDs with just 7 INTs. Really good numbers, but he didn't reach his goal. In the long run, I doubt he’ll care too much about falling short considering he has his team a win away from the NFC Championship. He has been one of the best QBs in the league for a long time, but maybe didn't get the attention he deserved until coming to LA where he was on a contending team. He’s been here before. He won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021, and he’s looking to join a list of future Hall of Fame QBs with multiple Super Bowls. He threw for 4,707 yards, 46 TDs and 8 INTs in the regular season and threw for three TDs and 300 yards last week. Tonight he’s going to have it a little tougher as he tries to deal with the conditions in Chicago
Bears last game
The Bears hosted their division rival, the Green Bay Packers for the third time this season and gave us another classic in the opening round of the playoffs. It looked like it was going to be ugly for Chicago early on, after going down 21-3 in the first half. Caleb Williams and the Bears offense turned on, but it took until the 4th quarter for them to start getting into the end zone as the defense locked down the Packers. D'Andre Swift ran in a TD to cut the lead to 21-16 but GB would counter with a TD a few minutes later. Williams answered back by hitting Zaccheaus with 4:18 to go, and the Bears would get a huge favor when Brandon McManus missed a 44 yard field goal that would have put GB up 6. The Bears went for the kill and completed the come back with a 25 yard TD from Williams to DJ Moore and Chicago booked their ticket to the next round of the playoffs.
Rams last game
Los Angeles had to settle for the five seed but they matched up with the below .500 Panthers in Carolina and looked like they were going to stroll to victory early on. Matt Stafford hit Puka Nacua with a couple of early TD passes to take a 14-0 lead, but the Panthers and Bryce Young would come battling back to head into the halftime down just 17-14. A couple of field goals for each team set up a fourth quarter full of drama. The Panthers pulled ahead 24-20 with a Chubba Hubbard TD run early in the 4th, the Rams answered with Stafford's 3rd TD of the day midway through the final quarter. Young put Carolina back ahead with a TD pass with 2:39 to go but Matt Stafford conducted a game winning drive that was capped off by a fantastic catch from Colby Parkinson to close the door on the Panthers.
