Rams 37 vs 38 Seahawks summary, stats, score and highlights | NFL Week 16

The Seahawks win it with a walk off two point conversion knowing that a tie wouldn't do them any good in the chase for the one seed. Darnold found Sauber of all people and SEA edged the Rams in one of the best football games you will ever see. They have the one seed, and the Seahawks let the world know they are ready to be taken seriously. 

There were people in Seattle booing Darnold. There were others who left in the fourth quarter, but Darnold and the Seahawks never quit and with a chance to tie or take the lead, the home team went for the kill and they went for the top spot in the NFC. 

LA had a chance to take the lead with 3:00 to go but they missed the field goal. The game went to OT, and the Seahawks won the toss and chose to kick. That looked like it might have been the wrong decision for a moment especially after Puka Nacua took in this TD to complete his 225 yard, two TD night. 

On one of the strangest plays you'll ever see, Darnold's pass on the two point conversion was tipped and fell incomplete, but upon review it was ruled a backwards pass and fumble which was recovered by Charbonnet and that's how SEA tied the game up. 

The SEA defense held LA to a three and out and a couple plays later it was Darnold finding Barner in the end zone to cut the lead to two. 

Down by 16 early in the 4th quarter, it was Rashid Shaheed who turned the game on it's head with a punt return for a TD for the second straight week. This changed the game the tides turned in favor of SEA for the rest of the way. 

Stafford went off in Seattle and might have solidified his MVP candidacy even in a loss. He had 457 yards passing and 3 TDs including this no look pass. 

After the pick, Corum put the Rams into the end zone and put them up two scores mid way through the fourth quarter. 

Darnold's haunted past looked like it was going to rear it's ugly head again, as he threw a couple of INTs in the second half with the game on the line. 

Kenneth Walker gave life to the Seahawks out of the break taking this 55 yard TD to the house to give Seattle the lead. That would start a wild second half full of scoring and drama. 

The Rams were driving at the end of the first quarter with a chance to cut into the lead or take the lead but Cooper Kupp fumbled to leave points on the field and head into the locker room down six. 

Matt Stafford and the Rams got into the red zone a couple times but they had to settle for field goals until Stafford found Ferguson in the end zone to take the lead. 

It was billed as one of the game's of the year, and it lived up to it's name. The LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks were locked in a high scoring, dramatic overtime thriller that was decided by a walk off two point conversion. 

Knowing that a tie wouldn't do them much good, Daronld found Sauber in the end zone for the two point conversion and the Rams take the lead in the NFC West!!

Darnold and the Seahawks just kept on fighting and fighting and they ended up tying it up and setting up a two point conversion to walk the game off.

So we have a crazy play going on. After review it's deemed the pass to the flat was tipped and fell incomplete, but the pass was a backwards pass and the loose ball which was a fumble was picked up by Charbonnet in the end zone!!! 

Darnold got a new shot of life after the punt return and he finds Barner wide open in the end zone. 

Shaheed on the reverse and he takes it down the right sideline for a huge gain of 31 yards!

The former Ram Cooper Kupp looked like he was going to get SEA in scoring position but fumbled and LA recovered in the end zone to go into the half with a 13-7 lead. 

LA got into the red zone a couple of times but they were held to FGs until Stafford found Ferguson for six to put LA up 13-7. 

Stafford has 167 yards and a TD on 12/18 passing and the Rams have 257 yards after two quarters. 

Charbonnet got into the end zone for the opening TD of the game, but the SEA offense spent most of the first half on the bench watching LA move the ball. 

Darnold hit Walker on a screen pass a few plays after the turnover on downs and he followed his blocker inside the 10 yard line. 

LA got stopped on 4th down to bring an end to their opening drive but that didn't stop them from trying fourth down conversions al first quarter. SEA got this one and turned it into points.

With just three games to go in the regular season, the Rams know they have to win every game remaining if they are going to close out the season as the NFC regular season champions. This is obviously the biggest game of the season for them, but then they have games against the Falcons in Atlanta and then return to Sofi for a division match up against the Arizona Cardinals. 

What's left: Seahawks 

The Seahawks can take a huge step in securing the one seed tonight, but even if they do they know the job won’t be done. After tonight’s game against the Rams, they head to Carolina to take on a Panthers team fighting for the division title, and then play the 49ers in the Bay to close out the season. Depending on how things play out that could be a game that decides who wins the NFC West, and the NFC. 

Last match up

The first match up between these two teams came back in November and it was the Rams defense that stepped up and won the game in LA. They picked off Sam Darnold four times, but despite that the Seahawks still had a chance to win the game on the final play of the fourth quarter. With the Rams leading 21-19, Jason Myers missed a 61 yard field goal and the Rams hung on to win to take the tie breaker against the Seahawks. 

Adams up in air 

The Rams game against he Lions went just about perfect, but the only negative was a big one. Davante Adams chased down a go route and pulled up clutching his hamstring. He left the game and didn't come back. He is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game after suffering a hamstring strain. It’s unlikely to see him tonight, because this game is huge for the Rams, but rushing him back and losing him for the season would be an even bigger loss. This year he has 789 yards receiving on 60 receptions, but almost a fourth of those catches have been for TDs. Stafford will be missing his red zone buddy but Puka and the rest of the gang will certainly step up in his absence. 

NFC Standings 

Taking a look at the standing in the NFC, we see these two teams at the top of the table in terms of standings but because the Rams have the tie breaker the Seahawks are in Wild Card position. That’s how important this game is. You have to win this one to have the chance to host in the playoffs, or else you will have to go on the road for every playoff game as a Wild Card. The Niners are right behind them with a record of 10-4 and in the NFC North you have the Bears at 10-4 and the Packers at 9-4-1. It’s not just about this game, but tonight is certainly going to have a massive impact on who has a BYE in the first round and home field advantage throughout the postseason. 

Seahawks star watch 

Sam Darnold has been in a renaissance since joining the Minnesota Vikings last year. They got rid of him after a nightmare ending to the season which proved that maybe just maybe he's not ready for those big moments. Minnesota ditched him and Seattle took a chance on him. That gamble paid off and Darnold is once again in the hunt for the one seed in the NFC. The Seahawks will be hoping that Darnold has learned his lesson and will be ready for games like tonight’s after a rough ending to last season. Darnold has 3,433 yards 22 TDs and 11 INTs this year, but it doesn’t matter what his numbers look like. He has to prove that he is ready to win the big one and tonight is his first chance to prove that. 

Rams star watch 

The Los Angeles Rams a powered by Matt Stafford, who has without a shadow of a doubt has been the best quarterback in the NFL this season. He is leading the MVP vote, but that's not going to matter to much to him if the Rams don’t get the one seed in the NFC and don’t make a Super Bowl run. He’s coming off his third game in which he threw for more than 350 yards, and he’s throw 37 TDs with just 5 INTs. His 3,722 yards are second in the league, and he leads the league in TD passes while throwing the fewest INTs in the league. What else could the Rams ask from their superstar? 

Seahawks last game 

It was an ugly game in Seattle last Sunday. The Seahawks hosted a Colts team that had just signed 44 year old QB Phillip Rivers which in theory should have been a much easier game than it was but the Colts defense stepped up and made life miserable for Sam Darnold and the Seahawks. Darnold didn't play terribly but the Seahawks just couldn’t get into the end zone. They had to kick six field goals, the last of which was to win the game as the clock expired. Jason Myers won it for the Seahawks going 6/6 on his field goals including his final one from 56 yards out. 

Rams last game

The Rams locked horns with the Detroit Lions from Sofi Stadium and it was a shootout from start to finish. Neither team got off to a great start, as DET missed a field goal and Matt Stafford threw an interception to open the first quarter. He would lock in after that, going for 368 yards and two TDs, and 181 of those yards went to Puka Nacua. The Lions were down 10 before the half, but field goals on both sides of the halftime break would tighten the game, and then the Rams would score three TDs to pull away from the Lions and keep their place at the top of the NFC.

Hello everyone and welcome to Lumen Field where the Seahawks are back home for what is shaping up to be the game of the season not in the NFC West and maybe all year. This will be their final home game of the regular season, but if they win tonight they know they will have a chance to win the division, a maybe the conference which would they could host each of their playoff games come January.
