On Friday, the NFL announced it had closed the case and determined that Rice did not violate the league’s personal conduct policy. As a result, he will not face any suspension. According to the league, investigators did not find sufficient evidence to support a violation under NFL guidelines.

The accusations were brought forward by Dacoda Jones, who on social media and later in a civil lawsuit alleged repeated incidents of abuse between 2023 and 2025, including multiple instances of physical aggression.

Despite the NFL’s decision, the legal battle isn’t over. The civil lawsuit remains active and seeks more than $1 million in damages, meaning Rice still faces significant challenges outside the football field.

From a football standpoint, the ruling has immediate consequences. Rice, 25, is now fully available for the 2026–27 season, where he’s expected to play a major role in Kansas City’s offense after establishing himself as a key contributor.

Two strikes for Rice — and counting

This isn’t the first time Rice’s name has surfaced for off‑field issues. He previously served a six‑game suspension for a separate incident involving a car accident in 2024, which had already put his disciplinary record under the microscope.

The outcome highlights a recurring theme in today’s NFL: investigations conducted under heavy public scrutiny, decisions based on internal evidence, and a landscape where the line between legal matters and football matters grows increasingly blurred.

For now, Rice avoids a suspension that could have dramatically altered the trajectory of his career.
