The NFL season finally starts tonight as the Super Bowl LVIII champions Kansas City Chiefs host 2023 MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the first Thursday Night Football game of the season. The Chiefs are looking to begin their quest for a third straight championship and the Ravens are hoping to avenge their AFC loss to the Chiefs last season.

Unfortunately, teams rarely get through training camp and the preseason unscathed and both will be starting their journeys to the top without at least one player. On the teams’ official injury reports, both have one player ruled out.

Chiefs vs Ravens Week 1 official injury report

Ravens injury report

  • OLB Adisa Isaac (hamstring) - OUT
  • RB Rasheen Ali (neck) - DOUBTFUL

The two players on the Ravens’ injury list are rookies. Neither was an expected starter, so it’s not a burden for Baltimore to have to sit Isaac and potentially Ali in Week 1.

Rookie edge rusher Adisa Isaac was the Ravens’ third-round pick and has been out of practice all week with a hamstring injury that he suffered from in his preseason debut before officially being ruled out of the game against the Chiefs on Wednesday.

Rookie running back Rasheen Ali was the Ravens’ fifth-round pick and is dealing with a neck injury. The Ravens listed him as doubtful on their official injury report on Wednesday. If he doesn’t play, the Ravens will likely elevate a practice squad running back, either John Kelly or Chris Collier, to the active roster. Still, they will have Derrick Henry and of course quarterback Lamar Jackson leading the rushing attack.

Chiefs injury report

  • WR Marquise Brown (Shoulder) - OUT

As expected, the Chiefs will play without starting wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Brown suffered from a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in the first week of the preseason and is expected to return within the next two weeks. He could potentially play in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it’s more likely he won’t return until Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons. With Brown on the sidelines, second-year Rashee Rice will likely get the bulk of the targets.

Other than Brown, all off the Chiefs’ other players were full participants on Wednesday and should be available to play tonight against the Ravens.
