Ravens make a move for former Pro Bowl quarterback
As the 2025 NFL season draws closer, the Baltimore Ravens have added a back-up quarterback alongside Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens have announced a move that strengthens their quarterback depth, adding Tyler Huntley to the practice squad.
Huntley returns to Baltimore, where he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career. He may serve as back-up to Lamar Jackson again, the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player.
Now 27 years old, Huntley has spent time with the Browns and Dolphins since leaving Baltimore in 2024. Most recently he signed with the Browns on August 5 but was released by the team last Sunday, freeing him up to a return to the Ravens.
During his first spell with the Ravens Huntley proved a very capable under-study to Jackson, making five starts in the 2022 season when Jackson missed games due to injury. That year saw Huntley named to the Pro Bowl for the first time, replacing the injured Josh Allen in the AFC roster.

For now, Huntley takes a place in the Ravens’ practice squad but there is a good chance that he will be called up to the active roster in the near future. The Ravens currently have veteran QB Cooper Rush as the back-up to Jackson but Huntley is a closer match to Jackson’s play-making qualities.
Last week Jackson suffered an injury scare at team practice, forced to leave the field after having his foot stepped on during a drill. However he did return to regular practice on Monday and head coach John Harbaugh sounded confident in his condition.
“I thought he looked good. It was a good practice,” Harbaugh said. “There was a lot going on, a lot of mental work for a quarterback. He’s working through that, trying to get it right. He will have another full workday tomorrow and another full workday on Wednesday.”
