Tonight's odds
The Bengals are 8 point favorites and the Over/Under is set at 40 points.
I'm taking the Benglas to cover the spread at home against a team that doesn't have their best player under center tonight.
Jackson out tonight
Lamar Jackson has been out of action since Week 14 after being sidelined with a knee injury. He was expected to return for the final week of the regular season, but he didn’t suit up against the Bengals last week and he won’t suit up against the Bengals tonight. There is not much word out of the Ravens camp on the status of their franchise QB’s knee, all Jackson told the world on Twitter in the days leading up to tonight’s do or die matchup is that he “can’t give 100% of myself to my guys.” You would normally never question an injured player’s motive to not playing, but he is on the verge of getting a new contract and it just makes you wonder if Jackson is making a business decision by not playing tonight.
This is the rubber match
The Bengals manhandled the Ravens on the final game of the regular season, but the game at the beginning of the season had a much different look to it. Baltimore had their start quarterback under center, and while he didn’t have a brilliant game he did enough as the defense kept the Cincy offense quiet. The Benglas took the 17-16 lead with just under two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but Jackson drove the Ravens down the field and set up a game winning 43 yard Justin Tucker field goal as the clock expired.
AFC Standings
The Ravens led the AFC North for much of the season as the Bengals got off to a sluggish start following a Super Bowl run last year. One Joe Burrow and the Bengals got the offense rolling Cincy started to climb and the Ravens started to fall as they saw their quarterback sidelined with an knee injury. The Ravens got the six seed in the AFC, as the Bengals won the AFC North and got the three seed in the conference.
Ravens are in the building
With no Lamar Jackson, the Ravens run game will have to step up in a big way. The defense has had it’s ups and downs, but you can’t expect to stop the Bengals offense for four quarters. They are going to need to try to keep pace with this explosive Cincy team, and these guys are going to be part of that responsibility falls on this man’s shoulders.
Joe Cool going casual
The attention is alway on Joe Burrow before, during and after a big game. Tonight is no different. The Cincy QB1 has been the man since taking control of the starting job in his rookie year, and he’s done it with a sense of style and swag on and off the field. Tonight he is ready for the bright lights, rocking the bucket hat waking into Paycor Stadium.
Baltimore limp into playoffs
The Ravens putrid offense continued to struggle on the final week of the season last week against the Bengals. Anthony Brown got the start under center as John Harbaugh looked for any sort of inspiration from his offensive unit. Brown threw for 286 yards, but was picked off twice and the Bengals jumped out to the early lead which buried the Ravens, sending them into the playoffs with the six seed in the AFC, setting up this divisional matchup in the first round of the postseason.
CIncy last week
The Bengals already had the AFC North wrapped up before their Week 18 matchup with the Ravens, but they still had an eye on the top seed in the conference so Joe Burrow and the starters were on the field to begin the game. As they have grown accustomed to doing over the last few weeks of the regular season, they jumped out to an early lead and could take the foot off the gas pedal as they got an chance to set their sights on the first round of the playoffs after going up 24-7 on the Ravens in the first half.
We are live from Paycor
Hello everyone and welcome to Cincinnati when the Bengals ended the season looking like one of the hottest team’s in the league. They won 8 straight coming into the post season, and Zac Taylor’s side is looking like it’s firing on all cylinders at the right time. The Ravens backed into the playoffs after seeing Lamar Jackson go down with another late season injury, and Baltimore lost three of the last four as their offense came to a stand still over the last month of the regular season. They come into tonight with out their QB1 looking to shock the world against their division rivals.
