Report: Dak Prescott may return in Week 6

Prescott suffered a broken thumb during the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers and the most optimistic forecasts have him returning to the field soon.

The beginning of the 2022 campaign has been difficult for the Dallas Cowboys due to the injury of Dak Prescott. Amid uncertainty in Dallas, an update on the quarterback’s health gives hope at AT&T Stadium.

According to information from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys are hopeful that Prescott will return to activity by week 6 after surgery on his right thumb, on the day that Dallas faces Philadelphia, the team’s main rival in the NFC East.

If this prediction comes true, Prescott would only be sidelined for the games against the Bengals, Giants, Commanders and Rams.

Also, this projection would close the doors of Dallas to Jimmy Garoppolo. Previously, when Prescott was thought to be out for up to nine weeks, there was speculation that the 49ers would release the quarterback to the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones knew it

Previously, Jerry Jones had been optimistic about Prescott’s return. Last Tuesday he explained that the Mississippi State product will not be sent to injured reserve, as he considered that the QB could be back quickly.

If we didn’t think he could be ready before four weeks, we would have placed him on injured reserve,” the executive told The Fan 105.3. “We won’t do that. We think he can play, so we don’t want him to be out without practicing.”
