SUPER BOWL 2023

Reporter pranks Mahomes about Rihanna

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a big Rihanna fan and one reporter decided to tell him that the feeling is mutual.

The Super Bowl is just two days away and as the players prepare for the biggest game of the year, we fans sit back and wait in eager anticipation for the big spectacle, which includes a halftime performance by Rihanna.

Reporter trolls Mahomes

Chiefs quarterback and NFL MVP for the 2022 season Patrick Mahomes already spoke about how excited he is about having Rihanna as the performer on Sunday, even though coach Andy Reid won’t let the players watch the show.

Former NFL wide receiver and co-host on the podcast “I am Athlete”, Brandon Marshall decided it would be fun to prank Mahomes. He told him that Rihanna called him the greatest quarterback ever and asked Mahomes how that made him feel.

“It makes you feel great,” Mahomes said. “Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospel, so I’m glad she went with me for that honor.”

“She didn’t,” Marshall laughed. “I was just messing with you.”

Mahomes, who was beaming from the fake compliment, stopped smiling but then laughed and said, “Ah, man! You got me up here smiling and smirking!” All the while, Marshall was cracking up in the background.

Even after moving on from the topic, once the interview was over, Mahomes said at the end, “I can’t believe you got me with that” and later the Chiefs posted about it on Twitter.

Rihanna responds

Good news for Mahomes, though! Marshall told her about the prank and asked her to say something nice.

“That is so mean!” Rihanna said. “I am so sorry you went through that. I still think you’re great. [Brandon’s] a hater though!”

He should feel pretty good about himself now with RiRi’s validation (just in case three Super Bowl appearances, a Super Bowl victory, two MVP awards, and countless other accolades didn’t do the trick).
