Robert Saleh sees no problem in Aaron Rodgers’ absence
The veteran New York Jets quarterback was absent from the mandatory minicamp, but the head coach has no issue with his decision.
Aaron Rodgers missed the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp without justification, but head coach Robert Saleh believes that is not a problem. The coach spoke to the media after practice on the second day of the mandatory minicamp
“Aaron and I are on the same page. There is no problem between him and his teammates,” said the head coach after training on Wednesday. “We talked about this yesterday, and it’s more of an issue for people outside the organization than it is for us.”
The four-time NFL MVP is in the final stages of recovery from a torn Achilles tendon during last season’s opening week game.
So far, Rodgers is subject to fines of $16,653 for his absence on the first day and $33,908 for the second, for a total of $50,855. If you miss the last day, you will be fined $50,861 for a total of $101,716 for not showing up for training.
Who would replace Rodgers in case of injury?
Tyrod Taylor took the reps for the starting quarterback during the minicamp. The veteran signed with the Jets for two seasons and $12 million during the most recent free agency.
Taylor gives security in the position to the Jets because he is a 13-year veteran who has played with the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and New York Giants.
