Roger Goodell’s reign carries on. The controversial commissioner who is occasionally booed by NFL, renewed his contract until at least March 2027, as announced by the league’s Compensation Committee.

At the moment the details of the new contract have not been released, however, it is expected to have plenty of incentives and be the most lucrative agreement in the history of the league.

“I'm obviously honored to do this job,” Goodell told reporters Wednesday after the conclusion of the fall meeting in New York. “It's not going to change the way I approach my daily work, and it hasn't to date.”

Furthermore, the NFL commissioner confessed that “From my standpoint, there’s still a number of things we want to do as a league,” Goodell said. “There are lot of challenges out there but there are also a lot of opportunities for us and we’re focused on how we make the NFL better every day, how we become a global sport.

Goodell's achievements as commissioner

This is the fourth contract extension that Roger Goodell has signed as commissioner of the NFL, and it is speculated that it could be the last because he is already 63 years old taking into account that the previous commissioner , Paul Tagliabue, was 65 years old when he retired.

Among Goodell’s big accomplishments are streaming deals the league has signed, worth $110 billion. He also structured a collective bargaining agreement that will last until 2030.
