Roster changes begin in the John Harbaugh era: Giants release Bobby Okereke
The departure of linebacker Bobby Okereke marks the first major roster move under John Harbaugh for the New York Giants.

Giants officially release Okereke
The Giants have released linebacker Bobby Okereke in a move that will reportedly save the team $9 million against the 2026 salary cap. It’s the first significant roster decision of the Harbaugh era and signals the beginning of a broader reshaping of the squad.

Okereke recorded 385 tackles, seven forced fumbles and 5.5 sacks during his three seasons with the franchise. In 2023, he signed a four-year, $40 million contract with New York.
Originally selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Okereke spent four seasons in Indianapolis before joining the Giants.
