San Francisco 49ers 21 vs 13 Seattle Seahawks summary stats, and highlights | NFL Week 15
The San Francisco 49ers punched their ticket to the playoffs while securing the NFC West title in their convincing road win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night. Rookie QB Brock Purdy threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-13 win in his first start on the road.
Purdy is the truth
Purdy was thrown into the game early against the Dolphins two weeks ago and led the Niners to victory. He started last week against Tom Brady and the stingy Tampa Bay defense and picked the secondary them apart in the win over the Bucs. Since then all we have heard in the media is whether or not Brock Purdy was for real.
Purdy, no doubt, heard these murmurs, so what did he do? He went 11/11 to start the game. He was on the road, in a hostile environment against a division rival, and he silenced the 12th man at Lumen Field from the very start while looking like a seasoned vet.
The Niners got on the board first late in the first quarter when Purdy orchestrated an 88 yard TD drive that was polished off with a 28 yard catch and run from a wide open George Kittle.
SF defense with another game changing play
San Fran’s defense looked as vicious as ever in Seattle. They forced Seattle in to three straight three and outs before Geno Smith and the offense finally found themselves in a position to kick a field goal with under five to go in the first half.
On the next possession, Purdy could have, and should have been picked off Quandre Diggs, but the defensive back saw the ball bounce off his hands and fall incomplete. The Niners would go on to punt, but with under a minute to go in the half Dre Greenlaw popped the ball out of Travis Homer’s hands and Jimmie Ward scooped the fumble and returned it to the Seattle 6 yard line.
Christian McCaffery got a heavy dose of the ball on Thursday night, and at the end of the first half he got his pay dirt just two plays after the fumble with a one yard TD run right before the half. McCaffery ran the ball 26 times for 108 yards and added another 30 yards receiving.
Niners in, Seahawks need a Wild Card spot
The Niners got the ball back after the halftime break, and two plays into the third quarter Purdy hit a wide open George Kittle for a 54 yard TD connection that would essentially seal the game.
San Fran would sit back and let their defense take control, as they kept Geno Smith in check. Smith went 31/44 for 238 yards and led a TD drive that made things interesting at the end of the fourth quarter, but the Niners lead was never really in jeopardy. The Seattle QB hit his tight end Noah Fant on a 10 yard TD pass with 3:35 to go in the game, but by the time the Seahawks scored it was too late.
The Niners would pick up a few first down and eventually run out the clock after a 55 yard run on third down from Jordan Mason to put the nail in the Seahawks coffin late in the game.
The Niners wrapped up the NFC West after their seventh straight win, while the Seahawks will now focus all of their attention on getting one of the three Wild Card spots up for grabs. At the moment they sit on the outside looking in, trailing the Cowboys, Giants and Commanders.
On the second play of the third quarter Purdy hit a wide open George Kittle for a 54 yard catch and run for a TD to put the Niners on cruise control the rest of the way.

Two plays after the interception, it was Christian McCaffery who punched the ball into the endzone for a 1 yard TD run to extend the lead to 14-3 right before the half.
Cargando...
The game was very much still on a razor edge at the nd of the first half, but Homer got popped by Dre Greenlaw and Jimmie Ward scooped it and took returned it to inside the 10.
Cargando...
Brock Purdy heard people questioning him all week long after beating Tom Brady and the Bucs, but he prove he is for real on Seattle from the start. He completed his first 11 passes including this 28 yard TD to George Kittle.

Niners arriving
The Niners know Lumen Field all too well. They know it’s going to be loud, they know they fans are going to be ruckus, but Brock Purdy will look to silence the 12th man in Seattle in just his second start in his rookie year.

Seahawks back in the building
The Seahawks have can’t afford to lose this game. They have been so good at home over the last decade, but they have lost two straight at Lumen Field and need to turn the tables on this recent skid at home. DK Metcalf knows it’s not going to be easy against the Niners who look to be one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment.

Seahawks looking to rebound
The Seahawks had a game many would have thought would be a cup cake for them before their big matchup tonight against the Niners. Maybe Pete Carroll’s men were looking at the their divisional game too soon and didn’t focus on the Panthers enough. Just a couple minutes into the second quarter, Carolina was up 17-0 while Seattle had run just six plays. They had a chance at a second half comeback after Geno Smith and the offense turned it on, but their late surge came to late and the Seahawks dropped to 7-6 on the year.

Niners last game
In Brock Purdy’s debut as the Niners, he looked like the best quarterback on the field in a game in which he went up against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Mr. Irrelevant outplayed the greatest football player to ever play, throwing for 185 yards and two TDs on 16-21 passing. Most of that came in the first half as the Niners defense shut down the Bucs offense and the game was a blow out by the time halftime came around.
