Update:

The 2025-26 NFL season is officially just two weeks away. That may be exciting news for most of us, but for the San Francisco 49ers, they may be hitting the panic button as their wide receiver crisis just keeps getting worse.

49ers hit with major blow as WR faces suspension

The Niners are bracing for a tough start to the season after wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was handed a three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

The punishment stems from a 2024 DUI arrest while Robinson was with the Rams. At the time, he pleaded no contest and was given three years probation, ordered to pay $390, and had to complete a program on alcohol education.

Although he is appealing, head coach Kyle Shanahan says the team is preparing to be without him for the first three weeks, which is the standard length of a suspension for a first-time DUI offense.

That would mean Robinson would miss games against the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Arizona Cardinals, and return for their home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4.

Robinson, entering his 10th season and first with San Francisco after signing a two-year, $9.5 million deal, had a career-best campaign in 2024 with the Rams (31 catches for 505 yards and seven touchdowns).

His absence adds to the Niners’ growing concerns at wide receiver, with Brandon Aiyuk sidelined until at least Week 6, several other receivers nursing injuries, and Jauan Jennings unhappy with his contract. To bolster depth, the team has already swung a trade with Kansas City for Skyy Moore.
