Update:

The New York Giants were one of the worst teams in the league last year, and came into the offseason needing to rebuild at basically every position. Most importantly they needed a quarterback and on Friday they got their guy.

Jameis heading to Big Apple

Jameis Winston signed a two year deal with the New York Giants after spending the last couple of seasons with the Cleveland Brows. Winston won the heart of many last year filling in as a back up and leading the Browns to a couple of big wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.

He was a constant viral sensation whenever he got the chance to get in front of the microphone, and became as beloved for his interviews as he was for his high flying, unpredictable style of quarterback. His larger than life personality is what got him a gig as the digital correspondent for Fox Sports during Super Bowl week.

After the season ended, Winston was a free agent, and he used his free time to dabble into a potential career in broadcasting. He took Fox Sports cameras around New Orleans and into media day in the lead up to Super Bowl LIX.

Will Jameis be Giant’s QB1?

That’s where he found Saquon Barkley and asked the former New York Giant which team should sign him now that he’s a free agent. Saquon replied, “I think New York needs a quarterback right now.” When asked which team, Barkley said, “The Giants.”

A couple years after the Giants chose to give Daniel Jones a long term deal instead of Saquon Barkley, they let their star running back go and released their quarterback, Jones, at the end of this season. Now the Giants will be starting from from scratch coming into next year.

Winston threw for 2,121 yards, 13 TDs and 12 INTs in seven starts but went 2-5 in those seven games. Whether Jameis will be the starter in New York is still up in the air. The Giants have been said to be in talks with Aaron Rodgers who is a free agent, and has also been in contact with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
