Seahawks 13 vs 3 49ers summary, stats, score and highlights | NFL Week 18
The Seattle Seahawks clinched the one seed in the NFC, a BYE and home field advantage in the playoffs with their primetime win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Show key events only
Seattle's defense made one final stand and Brock Purdy paid the price as he got hit high and low and stayed down on the ground for longer than the remaining Niners fans at Levi's Stadium would have liked to see. He got banged up against this Seahawks defense, and hopefully he can shake off a rough night on the field and his body before the Niners Wild Card game next week.
Seattle get the one seed, a week of rest and the rest of their playoff games at home while the Niners will either be the 5 seed or 6 seed depending on who wins the Rams vs. Cardinals game tomorrow.
Sam Darnold didn't have a huge game, but after his late season collapse last year he came out and proved he has learned and he is ready for the big game this year. He went 20/26 for 198 yards and led a 16 play drive that took over 8:00 minutes and drained the clock to close the door on the Niners.
The Niners took over three quarters to get into the red zone, but when they finally did, it was the Seattle D that came up with the play of the game again. Purdy's pass was tipped at the line, hit off the hands of McCaffrey and picked off by Drake Thomas inside the 5 yard line.
Purdy went 19/27 for 127 yards and this INT after averaging almost 300 yards over his last three games. McCaffrey was held in check on the ground, with just 23 yards on 8 carries and 34 yards receiving.
In a game that was short of offensive highlights, this was the play of the night. Up just a touchdown after having dominated the first half and some chance, SF had SEA with a 3rd and long and Walker took it for 19 yard and a first down. That would set up a field goal to put the Seahawks up 13-3 and that would be enough of a cushion for the defense.
The Niners finally started to look like they were going to get something going in the 2nd quarter but this top ranked Seahawks defense came up with a stand to take the ball back and set up a Jason Meyers field goal to go up 10-0.
The Seahawks defense held San Francisco to a three and out and that set up Seattle with great field position after their turnover on downs. Zach Charbonnet would take a 27 yard run to the house just a few plays later for the game's only TD.
Charbonnet had 74 yards on the ground, Kenneth Walker III added another 97 and the Seahawks totaled 180 yards rushing in the clinching win from San Fran.
The Seattle Seahawks are heading into the playoffs as the one seed in the NFC, and will get a BYE and have home field advantage after beating the San Francisco 49ers in front of their home fans on Saturday night.
The Seahawks dominated from the start, but their first drive ended in a turnover on downs even though they had a 1st and Goal from the 1. That wouldn't deter them from controlling the game for the rest of the night.

HERE WE GO!!!

WE ARE JUST SECONDS FROM GETTING THINGS GOINIG FROM SAN FRANCISCO!
Pending playoff matchups
So what happens at the end of the night? Well, we know that the winner of this game gets the one seed. If the Niners win, it's clear. They get the one seed, the BYE, and home field throughout the playoffs and the Seahawks get the top Wild Card spot, which would set them up with a game in either Tampa and Carolina depending on who wins the early game. If the Seahawks lose, they obviously get the one seed, but the Niners would either get the top Wild Card (the 5 seed) or the 6 seed if the Rams beat the Cardinals LA would take the 5 seed in that scenario, and play the Panthers or Bucs while the San Fran would have to travel to Chicago or Philly.
Offense vs. defense
The Niners have been on fire since Brock Purdy has fully recovered from his turf toe injury. In their six game win streak they have put up more than 29 points a game, as Purdy has thrown for 16 TDs and Christian McCaffrey has scored 7 TDs in those 6 games. They will be going up against maybe the top defense in the league. Seattle's D, led by head coach Mike MacDonald, is fifth in yards allowed giving up 292.6 ypg and their 18.1 points per game allowed is second only to the Houston Texans. It’s going to be a chess match here from Levi’s Stadium.
No Williams for Niners?
The Niners have been dealing with injuries all year and tonight is no different. From Brock Purdy's toe, to Fred Warner and Nick Bosa’s season ending injuries. Tonight they have their star left tackle and protector of Brock Purdy’s blind side, Trent Williams listed as questionable on the injury report. Even if he does play it’s going to be something to keep an eye on all night as the LT comes in with a sore hamstring.
Darnold's haunted past
Don’t think for a second that Sam Darnold isn’t feeling a bit of dejavu tonight. He was in the exact same position last year with the Vikings. A Week 18 match up for the one seed in the NFC against the Detroit Lions. The Lions spanked Minnesota and held Darnold to 166 yards and 18/41 passing as they took the one seed and left the Vikings with the Wild Card spot. The Vikings had to play the Rams in the first round and once again, Darnold was shut down. He did throw for a TD and 245 yards, but he also got sacked nine times, got picked once and was strip sacked as the Rams smothered the Vikings 27-9. Troy Aikman was on the broadcast and wondered if his last couple games were going to be enough to make teams second guess signing him to a long term contract. The Seahawks didn’t second guess, but now it’s time for him to repay their faith.

NFC standings
Taking a look at the NFC Standings, there is still plenty of loose ends to tie up in the final week of the season. The one seed is obviously still up for grabs. The winner of tonight’s game takes that while the loser gets a Wild Card spot. The two seed in the NFC is also up for grabs. The Eagles and the Bears are both 11-5 heading into the final week of the season. The Bears play the Lions from Soldier Field while the Eagles play the Commanders at home. If the Bears win, they get the one seed and will take on the Packers who are locked in at the 7 seed.
Star watch: Niners
Brock Purdy missed eight of the first 10 games of the regular season, but Mac Jones carried the load in his absence. Jones did well, but even he admitted, this is Purdy's team and he has shown exactly why everyone has such trust in the former Mr. Irrelevant. Since coming back, the Niners have won six straight, and he is just starting to heat up as he gears up for the playoffs. In the last three games, he’s thrown 892 yards, 11 TDs and just 2 INTs. He’s been in this situation before and he knows how to win these games.
Star watch: Seahawks
After a renaissance year in Minnesota last season the Vikings passed on giving Sam Darnold a long term contract so the Seahawks stepped up and paid him the big bucks this offseason. The gamble paid off. Darnold has followed up a career year with another solid campaign in which he has his team in position to take the one seed in the NFC. In his first year in Seattle, he has thrown for 3,850 yards, 25 TDs and 14 INTs while completing almost 70% of his passes. He has done more than enough for this team up until this point, but he needs to finish off the regular season strong to bury some old demons.
Niners last game
It was the game of the week and one of the games of the year as the Niners hosted the Chicago Bears and were the last ones standing after a battle Royale from Levi's Stadium. Both Brock Purdy and Caleb Williams threw for 300+ yards but Purdy threw a pick six on the first play of the night. That put Chicago up seven, but Purdy would tie the game up just a few minutes later with a one yard pass to Jake Tonges. San Fran then took the lead and had the Bears chasing them all night long. Every time the Niners scored, the Bears would answer until Chicago got a stop and took the 38-35 lead with a Chris Santos 5:22 to go. Purdy answered right back hitting Jauan Jennings on a 38 yard TD pass to take a 42-38 lead right before the Two Minute Warning. The Bears had a chance to win the game late on but Williams pass to Jahdae Walker in the end zone fell incomplete as the Niners won their sixth straight game.
Seahawks last game
After a wild overtime shootout against the LA Rams put them at the top of the NFC West and in pole position for the one seed, the Seahawks had to travel to Carolina for a tricky game against a Panthers team that was trying to take one step closer to the playoffs. It was a defensive first half as both teams scored just a field goal each. The Seahawks pulled away in the third quarter scoring two TDs thanks to Zach Charbonnet's two yard TD score and then Darnold connected with AJ Barner for a 17 yard TD pass to take a 17-3 lead. Carolina scored a TD early in the fourth quarter, but Charbonnet’s second TD rush of the day closed the door on the Panthers as Seattle rattled off their sixth straight win.
We are live from Levi's
Hello everyone and welcome to San Francisco where the Niners know exactly how much is on the line tonight. With Super Bowl LX set to be played in Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers have a chance to host every playoff game on their home turf in front of their home fans, but they need to win tonight against a Seattle Seahawks team that has won six straight games to put themselves in position to take the one seed in the NFC, and with that, a first round BYE and home field throughout the playoffs with the goal of coming back to this very same stadium come early February.
