Update:

Show key events only

After missing a 50+ yarder earlier in the 4th quarter Jason Meyers was in position to win it for his team again. This time from 52 yards out and he just squeaked it inside the upright to send the Seahawks back to Seattle with a 3-1 record while the Cardinals drop to 2-2 after four games.

A huge mistake by Chad Ryland put the Seahawks at the 40 after he put the kickoff short of the landing zone between the 20 and the end zone and that gave the Seahawks a chance to get into field goal ranged with 23 seconds and one time out. Darnold went to his favorite target on the biggest play of the game, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba hauled in the catch and got out of bounds with just seconds remaining. JSN was contained for most of the night but ended the game with 79 yards on four catches while Darnold had 242 yards and a TD on 18/26 passing.

Murray hit third string running back Emari Demercado on this 7 yard TD pass to tie the game up with 28 seconds left. There was a question on whether or not they might go for the two point conversion, but they kicked the field goal hoping to send the game into OT.

Then is was Murray going to Harrison Jr. again. He seemed to have snapped out of whatever funk he was in all game and came up with some huge catches down the stretch when his team needed it most. He ended the night with 66 yards and a TD on 6 catches, all in the second half.

With the game on the line Murray found MIchael Wilson for this miracle one handed catch that he barely saw to keep the drive alive.

It took over 45 minutes for the Cardinals offense to wake up, but finally Murray, Harrison Jr. and the offense came to life. Murray hit Harrison Jr. who desperately needed a big play on a rough night. That seemed to ignite the stadium and the Cardinals who would eventually come all the way back.

The Seahawks would get the ball back from their 10 yard line after a Cardinals punt, and they went 90 yards into the end zone thanks to some brilliant play from Darnold who did it with his arm and his legs. Then is was Zach Charbonnet punching it in to put SEA in control heading into halftime.

Marvin Harrison Jr. had a rough first three quarters. Both of the INTs from Murray were passes to Harrison Jr. and this one was directly in the hands of Harrrison, but he bobbled it and let Earl Jones pick it off and takes points off the board.

The Seahawks offense was one of the hottest in the league over the last couple of weeks, putting up 30+ in both weeks and Sam Darnold got his guys rolling early. In a place that he saw his era with the Vikings come to a crashing end last season he went into State Farm Stadium and played a great game. His first TD went to AJ Burner to put the Seahawks up top.

The Seattle Seahawks went on the road against a division rival on a short week and improved to 3-1 with a last second winner against the Arizona Cardinals. Jason Meyes was the hero with a walk off field goal as time ran out to secure the win from State Farm Stadium.

We expected a defensive battle and that's what we got for most of the game, especially from Seattle who came out cooking in the first half on the defensive side of the ball. They forced an early interception on Kyler Murray when Coby Bryant intercepted the Arizona QB, but he gave it right back when he was tackled by his own teammate. That led to a field goal but that was about the extent of the offense for ARI in the first half.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM ARIZONA!!!!

New look in Arizona

It’s primetime in the desert and the Cardinals are ready to debut their new Rivalries jersey that was made by Nike for this Thursday Night Matchup. The jersey is supposed to represent then heat, and sand storm with its red and copper motif that will debut tonight. It’s always a little added pick me up when players walk into the locker room and see a sweet looking jersey. That might be the difference maker tonight in Arizona as the Cardinals look to knock off the Seahawks in a huge division matchup.

Cupcake start for Cards?

The Cardinals are 2-1 and have one of the top defensive units in the game. Is that a product of their players on the field and the game planning during the week? Or is it a result of a cup cake schedule though the first three weeks of the season? Both could be true, but you can’t overlook the way Arizona has began the campaign. They played the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers before taking on a depleted Niners team that was packed full of injuries. They beat the Saints and the Panthers by one score, and got beat at the buzzer by the Niners last week. IT’s been far from a meat grinder of schedule but they have the Seahawks tonight, Tennessee next week and then the undefeated Colts and Green Bay before their Week 8 BYE.

Defensive duel in the desert?

When we think of the Arizona Cardinals, we don’t necessarily think of them as a defensive powerhouse, but so far they are doing a great job keeping their opponents off the board. It wasn’t just last week in which they allowed just one TD to the Niners, they are fifth in the league in points per game allowed at 17 ppg. One of the teams that is ahead of them on that table is the Seattle Seahawks who are giving up just 15.7 ppg.

WR

WR comparison

Both of these quarterbacks have their preferred targets at the WR position. Marvins Harrison has got the most targets of any of the WRs with 17. He’s got one receiving TD, but he’s faveraging 3.3 catches a game for just under 50 yards per outing, but Murray is going to need more from his stud, and so will TE Trey McBride who has 17 catches fo 182 yards and a TD. On the other side there is no question who Sam Darnold has built the most chemistry with so far in Seattle. Him and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been one of the most prolific QB/WR combos in the league. JSN has the 2nd most receiving yards with 323, just 10 after Puka Nacua, but he’s got a TD, which Nacua doesn’t have.

RB

RBs comparison

With Conner out, that puts the pressure on Trey Benson who will be the RB1 in the desert for the rest of the year. He was splitting carries with Conner through three weeks of the season, and actually had more yards than Conner in the opening games of the year. He has 121 yards on 21 carries and another 45 yards receiving but he is still looking for his first TD of the year. Zach Charbonnet is questionable for the Seahawks, but they have a proven back behind Darnold in Kenneth Walker III should Charbonnet not play. He’s got 163 total rushing yards and 3 TDs including two last week.

Card’s running takes a hit

It was a scene you hope to never have to see. Football is a violent game and sometimes players get injured. Last week long time ARI running back James Connor suffered a sever injury that will bring and end to the season. It was an unspecified foot injury that he will have to have surgery on, and that will sideline him until next year. In three games, Conner had a total of 95 yards and one TD while catching 8 balls for 38 yards.

Star watch: Arizona

It seems like forever ago that Kyler Murray and the Cardinals started the season 7-0 and Kyler Murray was an MVP candidate but Murray got hurt in that 2021 season and the Cards ended up spiraling, and since then haven’t really recovered. They’ve gone through coaching changes and more ups than downs since then. Murray is still looking for his first 4,000 yard passing season, but more importantly he is looking to get the Cardinals in the playoffs for the first time since the 2021 season. Murray hasn’t been great so far, averaging just 180 yards passing per game, but he’s got 4 TDs and 1 INT through three games.

Star watch: Seattle

The Seahawks took a chance on Sam Darnold this offseason and that chance seems to be paying off huge dividends. After having his career revived in Minnesota last year he entered the free agent market and the Seahawks scooped him up with a big money contract. The former first rounder turned journey man had a career year throwing for 4,319 yards, 35 TDs and just 12 INTs and was a win way from clinching the Vikings the top seed in the NFC. He has fit in nicely after moving out went to Seattle. He had a modest game against the Niners in the opener, but led his team to victory I the last two games, with games of 295 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs vs. the Steelers and then dropped 218 and 2 TDs vs. New Orleans last week.

Last week: Cardinals

It was an ugly game in San Francisco last week. There were just two TDs scored total all day, as the Cardinals took on a banged up Niners squad that was without Brock Purdy, George Kittle and a handful of other weapons. Both defenses came out controlling the pace of the game, and both teams want into halftime at 6-6. Mac Jones hit Kyle Juszczyk on a 1 yard TD to put the Niners up 13-6, but Murray answered with a TD pass of his own on the next drive. The Cardinals would end up taking the lead on a safety called due to a holding penalty on SF in their own end zone. The Niners defense held strong, and gave the ball back to Jones and the offense with under 2:00 to go. They drove down the field and set up Eddie Piniero with a 35 yard field goal which he banged home with zeros left on the clock.

Last week: Seahawks

The Seahawks returned to Seattle last week following a big win in Pittsburgh and hosted a Saints team that will probably be considered the worst in the league once this season is all said and done. New Orleans had to travel all the way across the country for a road showdown in Seattle, and it was either the jet leg or the 12th man, but they came out flat at Lumen Field and ended up getting blown out Jackson Smith-Njigba started the scoring festival in the first five minutes of the game, and Seattle didn’t slow down from there. Two minutes late Tory Horton an back a 95 yard punt return and then caught a 14 yard pass from Sam Darnold who had a light day in the air. It was light but it was efficient. He went 14/18 fo 2 TDs and 218 yards, while Kenneth Walker III scored his second TD rush of the night midway through the 2nd quarter to put the Seahawks up 35-3. They would breeze to a 44-13 win

We are live from State Farm Stadium

Hello everyone and welcome to Arizona where the Cardinals are back home and looking to rebound after a loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. They struggled to get into the end zone last week, and to make matters worse they lost their top running back in a taxing divisional loss. Tonight they look to dust themselves off and get back into the win column against the Seattle Seahawks who’s offense has been one of the hottest in the NFL over the last couple weeks. They have been lighting up the scoreboard but tonight they face off against a defense that has been awfully stingy giving up points.  There are experts and analysts alike calling this a must win game for two teams that are looking
