See the sneak peek: Carrie Underwood’s new SNF opener drops during Hall of Fame Game
Waiting all day for Sunday night? You’ll get a small dose early this season as Carrie Underwood gives a peek at her new version of the SNF theme.
We’ve been waiting five long months for the NFL to return and now it’s finally back. It may just be the preseason, and it may be the Hall of Fame Game that doesn’t count towards anything, but we’ll take whatever small dose of football action we can after fiending all offseason.
Speaking of waiting (and of small doses), Carrie Underwood is back for her 13th consecutive season headlining NBC’s Sunday Night Football musical opener. As the NFL’s primetime juggernaut enters its 20th season on NBC, fans can expect a refreshed take on the iconic “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” theme when the season kicks off on September 7 with the Baltimore Ravens vs Buffalo Bills showdown.
Carrie Underwood’s new SNF Opener drops during Hall of Fame Game
This year, NBC and creative director Tripp Dixon have reimagined the opener to amplify Underwood’s powerful vocals with a bold new visual and sonic direction. Shot once again at The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas - home of Underwood’s record-setting residency - the opening sequence blends stylized footage and behind-the-scenes moments to celebrate the national spectacle that is Sunday Night Football.
“For the 20th season of SNF, we wanted to set the tone for the night by reimagining the anthem sound in a way that plays to Carrie’s powerhouse vocals, while visually creating a seamless blend of stylized shots and behind-the-scenes moments evoking the national roadshow that is Sunday Night Football, week after week in the fall,” said Dixon.
Fans will get an early sneak peek of the new opener during the Hall of Fame Game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions tonight, July 31 at 8 p.m. on NBC and Peacock.
“We had a blast shooting the new opening at The Resorts World Theatre again,” said Underwood. “As always, Tripp and the creative team continue to raise the bar, bringing the high energy and stunning visuals that the Sunday Night Football audience has come to expect year after year. I can’t wait for the world to see it!"
