Nix throwing shade and Penix?
Bo Nix just did an interview with Tom Pellissero from NFL Network and he might have just thrown a little shade at Michael Penix Jr. who decided to sit today out after a great week of practice. He said he felt it was something he had to do after a couple other guys dropped out and just wanted to show some respect to the event.

Big stars missing
The Senior Bowl used to be exactly that. Just for Seniors, but with players leaving school early, and the introduction of the transfer portal, underclassmen are allowed to participate in the college football All-Star game. That doesn’t means that every senior, or underclassmen is obliged to go to the game. Projected No. 1 pick Caleb Williams won’t be playing today, neither will Heisman winner Jayden Daniels or Marvin Harrison Jr.

Penix vs. Nix
The last time we saw Michal Penix Jr. he was on the losing end of the College Football Playoff National Championship. He struggled against the Michigan defense on the largest stage after a senior year in which he was named a Heisman candidate. He’s a pocket passer with pin point accuracy who can keep a defense honest with his legs, but he is without question a pass first QB. Unlike Nix, Penix Jr. has had himself quite the week of practice and will look to solidify a great week in front of scouts and GMs with a big day today. https://x.com/JimNagy_SB/status/1753507232724000819?s=20

Bo knows?
Oregon Quarterback Bo Nix just finished up his fifth year of college, and is older than some quite a few NFL quarterbacks including CJ Stroud, Bryce Young and Sam Howell. He spent his first three years at Auburn before transferring to Oregon and leading the Ducks to two 10 win seasons, a Holiday Bowl win and a Fiesta Bowl win. He was a Heisman Candidate this year, but lost out to Jayden Daniels of LSU. He’s one of the top QB prospects in the draft, but apparently he’s had a rough couple of days of practice over the last week. Today he will have something to prove against some of the nation’s best talent.

Former Senior Bowl standouts
The Senior Bowl has been a pre Draft institution for three quarters century. The top collegiate players have made their way through the “All-Star Game” in the lead up to the selection show since the 1950s. Just like a good performance today isn’t going to guarantee a player a top five pick or a long and illustrious career, a bad performance doesn’t mean that a player is going to drop out of the draft board. There have been MVPs of this game that went on to have very short, unsuccessful careers, but there have also been MVP’s that went on to have legendary careers in the NFC. Guys from generations past like Terry Bradshaw and Dan Marino were named the game’s Most Valuable Player. More recently Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott were named MVP and a currently enjoying a fruitful careers in the NFL.
