Shedeur Sanders left speechless (literally) after Browns QB decision

The Browns decided to bench quarterback Joe Flacco and start rookie Dillon Gabriel in Week 5. Shedeur Sanders’ reaction says a lot, without saying anything.

Update:

The Cleveland Browns are shaking up their quarterback room again, this time benching veteran Joe Flacco in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel for Sunday’s Week 5 game in London against the Minnesota Vikings. The move shows a big vote of confidence in Gabriel’s playmaking ability after the team’s rough 1-3 start.

But for fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders, it means another week waiting on the sidelines.

Shedeur Sanders’ silent reaction speaks volumes

Sanders, who believed he had earned a shot with the first team, had no words when asked about the decision - literally. In a locker room video, he answered media questions only with gestures, hinting at his frustration with being stuck at QB3 on the depth chart behind Gabriel and Flacco.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, really, as head coach Kevin Stefanski already made the depth chart clear at the start of the season - Flacco, Gabriel, then Sanders. Gabriel was chosen two rounds ahead of Sanders in the draft, and it makes sense that the Browns would start him first. For now, Flacco and Gabriel have simply swapped places. As for Gabriel, he’s been prepared for this moment since he joined the team.

“You wait for the perfect time, you’re gonna wait a whole lifetime. For me, I’ve always been ready,” Gabriel said.

The Browns face the Vikings in the NFL‘s International Series this Sunday, October 5 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England with an early kickoff time of 9:30 a.m. ET.
