Update:

Shilo Sanders’ week has gone from bad to worse, to the tune of $4,669. On Tuesday, the oldest son of NFL legend and two-time Super Bowl winner Deion Sanders was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as part of Todd Bowles’ final roster cut. The 25-year-old had only signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent at the end of April.

Sanders’ costly preseason mistake

Sanders’ case for making it in the NFL wasn’t helped by his ejection from a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on August 23. Bowles described the safety’s punch to Bills tight end Zach Davidson’s helmet as “inexcusable,” a view the league also appears to share.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed Sanders has been fined $4,669 for the incident, which drew an unnecessary roughness penalty at the time. Sanders was waived by the Bucs 24 hours later, two days before the roster deadline. No other team has signed him yet, leaving his NFL future in doubt.

Exploring life beyond football

Despite the setback, Sanders doesn’t appear overly concerned about his predicament. After his release, he said he remains open to another shot in the league but is also considering career paths in music, modeling, or acting.

“I’ll be talking to my agent and we’re waiting on the next opportunity,” Sanders said. “If that’s in the NFL, cool, but God has blessed me with a lot of talent to do things other than football.”

Support from Deion Sanders

Father Deion echoed that confidence. “We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team. But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next. Shilo is a man of many talents, and he’s gonna be straight. All the Sanders are gonna be straight, with or without football.”
