Skyy Moore sounds off after trade to San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are already battling injuries at the wide receiver position and had to bring in Skyy Moore to add a little depth to the WR room.

The San Francisco 49ers are coming into the new season looking to put an injury filled campaign in the rearview. Unfortunately the early injuries are piling up, and the Niners have had to make some deals to deepen their depth chart already.
Moore ready to move on
San Fran brought in former Super Bowl champion Skyy Moore from Kansas City Chiefs last week after seeing their receiving corp was decimated over the preseason. They currently have six of the WRs on their roster listed as either out, questionable or suspended just a couple weeks from kicking off the season.
Moore is looking to start a new chapter in the Bay Area after a slow start to his career at Arrowhead Stadium. “Yeah, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a fresh start,” Moore said following his first game with the Niners, via NBA Sports Bay Area. “New city, new team. I feel like I get to learn again and put the fun back in the game. Not that I lost it, but just another adventure, I’d say. And the guys, what I’ve seen so far, they accepted me. And all the veteran guys and all the coaches helped me make that transition as smooth as possible.”

Moore was drafted out of the University of Western Michigan in the 2nd round of the 2022 Draft, but struggled to fit into the Chiefs offense. In three seasons with the Chiefs, he had 494 yards with just one TD and last year played just six games before suffering a season ending injury core muscle injury. In those six games he was targeted three times, but didn’t register a single catch.
Sunny Skyy in the Bay
Despite winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs against his new team back in 2023, Moore feels like he has a chance to free his mind in San Francisco much more than he could in KC. “Yeah, I feel like I definitely needed a fresh start,” Moore said. “I found myself in my head a lot over in Kansas City. And, you know, that’s never good. I feel like today, it was just, like, let it loose and just go out and play because I don’t know anything anyway. So it’s like, I got to just play ball.”
Moore played his first game in a Niners uniform on Saturday, but admitted he was “confused out there a little bit.” He arrived just days before the final preseason outing and practiced once with the team before lining up with the offense. He was targeted six times, and caught three passes for 19 yards.
The Niners traded Deebo Samuel away, won’t have Brandon Ayiuk available for the beginning of the season, Demarcus Robinson is suspended and Jujuan Jennings and Ricky Persall have been battling injury in preseason. Moore figures to be used at WR, in special teams as a punt returner and as a gadget man in Kyle Shanahans’s offense. He’ll have about to weeks to get familiar with the playbook before San Fran take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.
