Split between the Eagles and his brother Travis: Who will Jason Kelce root for in Super Bowl LIX?

Former Eagles favorite Jason Kelce is in no doubt about where his loyalties lie in Sunday’s Super Bowl, which sees Philadelphia face his brother’s Kansas City Chiefs.

Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce has said he won’t have difficulty choosing who to support in Super Bowl LIX this weekend, despite the presence of brother Travis in the Kansas City Chiefs team.

Eagles aim to avoid historic Chiefs feat

The Eagles face the Chiefs in New Orleans on Sunday, bidding to lift the second Super Bowl title in the Pennsylvania franchise’s history - and prevent Kansas City from completing an unprecedented ’three-peat’.

If Travis Kelce and the Chiefs are victorious at Caesars Superdome, they will become the first team in the Super Bowl era to win three consecutive NFL championships.

“I will root for the Eagles, of course”

Jason, who retired from playing in March 2024, was part of the Eagles team that lost the Super Bowl to Travis’s Chiefs two years ago. Shortly after retiring, he responded bluntly when it was suggested he might have divided loyalties if Philadelphia and Kansas City met again in the title game.

During an episode of the Kelce brothers’ podcast New Heights 11 months ago, two weeks after Jason hung up his cleats, a listener asked: “If the Chiefs play the Eagles in the Super Bowl next year, who will Jason root for?

Without a moment’s hesitation to consider his response, Jason replied: “I will root for the Eagles, of course, because I will always be an Eagle, first and foremost.

“I’ll also root for Travis to have a good game, of course, because he’s my brother. But, no, I’ll definitely be cheering on the Eagles in this scenario.”

“Good luck to your Eagles”

Travis, who could be heard muttering “such bullshit” as his sibling declared his undying allegiance to Philadelphia, responded sarcastically: “Good luck to your Eagles.”

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Jason spent the entirety of his 13-year NFL career with the Eagles, helping the team to victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in the 2017 season.
