Steelers 17 vs 10 Ravens summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 18
It was the defense yet again coming up with the big takeaway that allowed the Steelers to extend the lead to two possessions with this forced fumble by Eric Rowe. Chris Boswell would kick a field goal in the late stages of the 4th and secure the must win match up against the Steelers division rival. Now Pittsburgh needs either a tie in the night game between the Texans and Colts, or the Titans to beat the Jags tomorrow or the Dolphins to beat the Bills. They will sit back and cross their fingers knowing they did their jobs today in Baltimore.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, Mason Rudolph came up with the biggest pass of the season and most likely his career. He hit Dionte Johnson on a slant pattern that the WR took 71 yards to the house and that would prove to make the difference in this soggy, defensive showdown.
Rudolph went for 152 yards and a TD on 18/20 passing while the running game and defense took care of the dirty work.
Huntley was dropped 4 times, twice by TJ Watt and while the defense had a great day in Baltimore the bad news is Watt went down with what looked to be a leg/knee injury later in the 2nd half. If he is out for even a week that is going to spell big trouble for the Steelers if they do end up making the playoffs.
Tyler Huntley got into a little groove after the fumble recovery, hitting a couple of long passes including this one to Isaiah Likely for a 27 yard TD to tie the game up at 7-7 right before the Two Minute Warning.
Jaylen Warren would give the ball right back to the Ravens just a few plays after PIT's defense came up with the opening turnover of the game, and that seemed to spark the Baltimore offense which seemed flat with out Lamar Jackson and a handful of other starters.
The Steelers defense has been doing it all year long, and in the biggest game of the season they came up with a couple of massive turnovers. This fumble was knocked out of the hands of Melvin Gordon and Larry Ogunjobi came up with the recovery.
In a soggy night in Pittsburgh the Steelers were going to have to ground and pound with Najee Harris and the rest of the run game and that's exactly what they did on Saturday in Baltimore. Harris ended the night with 112 of the 155 rushing yards on 26 touches and added another 5 catches for 21 yards. He was without question the MVP of the night and the reason the Steelers still have a chance to make the playoffs.
IT'S ALL OVER!!!
The Steelers come into the house of the AFC leaders, albeit with their starters on the bench, and survive a must win game in the rain. Now they will cross their fingers hoping that the Titans can beat the Jags or the Dolphins beat the Bills.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM A RAINY BALTIMORE!!!
The Steelers get the ball to start the afternoon and will take over from the 25.
Tonight's odds
The Steelers might be on the road but the Ravens starters being on the sidelines has influenced the bookmakers to make Pittsburgh a 3 point favorite with the Over/Under set at 34 on a rainy night from the Steele City.
I think the Ravens are so deep, it doesn't matter who is in the game. I think they win, break the Steelers hearts and end their chances at a postseason run tonight.
Ravens win 17-10.
Who's starting under center for Pittsburgh
Word on the street is that Kenny Pickett is healthy for tonight’s game, but the Steelers are going with the hot hand in Kenny Pickett. The experiment with Mitch Trubisky didn’t work out and the fans in the Steele City seemed to call for Rudolph from the first snap of Trubisky’s era under center. They finally got what they asked for in the game against the Bengals two weeks ago, and since then he has thrown for 564 yards and TDs while not turning the ball over which has been an Achilles heel of the Steelers. Tonight he gets the start looking to keep the Steelers chances alive in Baltimore against the AFC leading Ravens.
What the Steelers need
The Ravens are locked into the one seed, which means the focus shifts all to the Steelers who need to win and some help during the rest of the weekend. Pittsburgh will be hoping to get the 7th and final seed in the playoffs, but come into the week 9th in the AFC, behind the Colts who currently control their own destiny in the 7th spot. The Texans are right behind them in 8th with the same 9-7 record as the Colts and the Steelers. That means the Steelers are going to have to win their game, and hope the Titans can beat the Jaguars on Sunday. If Tennessee can’t beat Jacksonville, they will have to take care of the Ravens, and hope for the Dolphins to beat the Bills in the final game on Sunday night. If the Bills and Jags win only other way the Steelers could get into the playoffs would be a Colts and Texans tie in the late game tonight, and a win from Denver.
Starters sidelined
It’s the eternal question. With the top spot in the AFC wrapped up and a first round BYE coming up next week, do you rest your players in the final week of the season? Obviously injuries are a concern, and you want to avoid losing anyone at all costs before the postseason comes, but two weeks off is a long time and we have seen teams in the past rest their starters in the final week of the season, get the BYE and come out flat two weeks later in their debut game of the post season. Jon Harbaugh has made the decision to sit Lamar Jackson, Odell Beckham and a handful of other starters in order to keep them fresh for the playoffs. It’s the logical call, but the way this team has been rolling over the last few weeks makes you wonder if this extended break might throw off the Ravens rhythm.
Rudolph the red hot QB
It’s has been a long and tough road for Najee Harris who was expected to be one of the top running backs in the league coming out of the University of Alabama. He’s a big, strong, shifty back who can run between the tackles, and catch the ball out of the backfield but the Steelers sputtering offense over the last few years has hindered his ability to show his full potential. Last week he had his first 100 yards game of the season, and he did it in the most important game of the year. He has seemed to had a renaissance with Mason Rudolph under center. With the one time 3rd string QB as the starter he is getting more space at the line because teams have to be mindful of the passing game. Harris is going to need a big game tonight against a Baltimore defense that might be resting a few of their stars.
Ravens last week
It was the Ravens third straight game against a division leading team, and there was plenty at stake against the Dolphins in Week 17. First place in the confernce was on the line, and the Ravens made minced meat of Miami in a battle of the top teams in the AFC. Lamar Jackson all but secured the MVP with a second straight game in which he outshined the other MVP candidates on the field in San Fran and against Miami. He went for 321 yards in the air, throwing five TDs and had the Steelers up 28-13 going into halftime. It would only get worse for the Dolphins in the second half as Baltimore stretched their lead to 56-19 to wrap up the top spot in the AFC.
Steelers last week
After losing three straight in one of their worst stretches this season, and in the Mike Tomlin era, the Steelers have bounced back with two wins over playoff hopefuls. The first came against the Bengals in a 34-11 blowout two weeks ago, and last week Pittsburgh went into Seattle and took down the Seahawks thanks to a brilliant performance from Najee Harris. It was Mason Rudolph under center for a second straight week, but the RB was the one who kept the Steelers playoff dreams alive with 122 yards and two TDs on the ground. Harris’ second TD of the game put the Steelers up 24-17 in the third quarter and the defense did the job the rest of the way holding Seattle to two fourth quarter field goals and edging by the Seahawks 30-23.
We are live from M&T
Hello everyone and welcome to Baltimore where the Ravens have made it through the end of season gauntlet of games against the top teams in the league and have come out even stronger than they went in. After wins over the Jags, Niners and the Dolphins, they have locked up the top seed in the AFC, earning them a first round BYE and home field throughout the playoffs. The Steelers are just looking to get into the postseason, knowing a win isn’t going to be enough. They need a win in Baltimore and some outside help. First things first, they have to take care of business for the next 60 minutes and will cross their fingers for the rest of the weekend.
Steelers vs. Ravens
There is a lot to sort out in the final weekend of the NFL’s regular season. Seeding is still yet to be determined and there are a few Wild Card spots still up for grabs in both the AFC and the NFC. One of the teams looking to sneak into the playoffs are the Pittsburgh Steelers who travel to Baltimore needing a win against the Ravens this afternoon. AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlight and analysis of this afternoon’s game from M&T Bank Stadium.
