Update:

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Detroit Lions 38-30 on Monday Night Football in Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season.

The Lions’ running backs, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, ran for two touchdowns each. The team’s rushing attack was particularly effective, with Detroit totaling 224 yards on the ground and an average of 5.9 yards per carry.

With the Ravens trailing 28-24 in the fourth quarter, running back Derrick Henry fumbled, which was recovered by the Lions in the red zone. This turnover led to a field goal for Detroit, extending their lead and proving to be a critical turning point in the game. It was Henry’s third fumble in as many games.

Detroit, under coach Dan Campbell, were aggressive on fourth down, converting all three of their attempts, including a crucial pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown late in the fourth quarter that sealed the game. This showcased the Lions’ confidence and execution in high-pressure situations.

First Take tetchiness

On ESPN’s “First Take” show following the Baltimore Ravens’ loss to the Detroit Lions, Stephen A. Smith and Chris Canty had a heated debate about who was to blame for the defeat.

Chris Canty argued that the Ravens’ defense was “trash” and that Lamar Jackson proved to be overrated in the loss. He specifically pointed to the fact that Jackson was sacked seven times by the Lions’ defense.

Stephen A. Smith, who had previously predicted the Ravens would win, expressed his concerns about the team’s performance, but his main focus was on the performance of running back Derrick Henry. He called Henry a “fraud” and said he “can’t be trusted” after his struggles in the game. The two analysts’ disagreement centered on whether the blame for the loss lay more with the quarterback (as Canty suggested) or the running game and overall offensive performance (as Smith argued).
