Tennessee Titans 16 vs 20 Jacksonville Jaguars summary: stats and highlights | Week 18
The Jacksonville Jaguars are moving onto the postseason after a dramatic late win in a do or die Week 18 showdown with the Tennessee Titans. A late Rayshawn Jenkins fumble recovery for a touchdown sealed the win and the AFC South for the Jags.
Jags win fifth straight to make playoffs
Jacksonville came into the divisional rivalry having won four straight games to shoot up the standings while the Titans were in a spiral that saw them lose six straight but still had a shot to reach the playoffs in the final week of the season.
Tennessee came into the game with their third string quarterback, Joshua Dobbs, who made just the second start of his six year career on Saturday Night. That meant that Derrick Henry was going to get a heavy dose of carries, after getting rested against the Cowboys last week.
It was Dobbs and the Titans that jumped out to a ten point lead thanks to a field goal late in the first quarter, and then a Trevor Lawrence fumble led to a Dobbs 21 yard TD pass to Chigoziem Okonkwo with 5:32 to go in the first half.
Jags defense steps up in second half
Lawrence and the Jags responded on the next possession after Jamal Agnew set up Jacksonville with great field position after a returning the kickoff out to the 50 yards line. The Jags had their chances to put points on the board, but only managed to punch the ball into the end zone right before the first half ended when Lawrence found Christian Kirk on a 25 yard TD pass to cut the lead to 10-7.
The Titans got a Randy Bullock field goal late in the second quarter stretch the lead back to six points before the half, but in the second half the offense would die down.
Each team swapped field goals to start the third quarter, but then the Titans armor started to crack. Dobbs was playing nearly perfect football, and Henry helped Tennessee control the game clock, but an interception just before the final quarter gave brought the Jags fans back into the game.
Ravens or Chargers next up for Jags
Jacksonville would leave more points on the boards after Lawrence failed to connect with Zay Jones in the back of the end zone on third down. The Jags kicked a field goal to to bring the score to 16-13 in the first minute of the fourth quarter.
Both teams offenses came to a stand still as each exchanged four straight three and outs, but the play of the game came with just under three minutes left when Dobbs was strip sacked by Rayshawn Jenkins and Josh Allen recovered it and ran the fumble back for a touchdown to seal the game for Jacksonville.
The Jags stopped the Titans on the ensuing drive to seal the AFC South Title and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They will now play the highest ranked Wild Card team, which will either be the Baltimore Ravens or the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Jags offense couldn't take the lead, so late in the game it was Rayshawn Jenkins who came on a third down blitz, and Josh Allen scooped and scored the TD to sent the Jags into the post season.
The Titans weren't playing great on offense, but they didn't make any mistakes thorugh almost three quarter, but Dobbs forced up a 3rd and long throw that was picked by Tyson Campbell and ran back to inside the 25.The Jags could only get a field goal after the great field position.
Trevor Lawrence and the Jags shook off some early mistake and cut into the Titans lead with this 25 yard connection to Christian Kirk right before the half.
Dobbs and the Titans landed the first blow with a 21 yard strike to Chigoziem Okonkwo late in the second quarter.

Dobbs was sacked and lost the ball for a moment, but got the ball back only to loss 8 yards.

Jamal Agnew brought the Jags back to life after the TEN TD with this 54 yard reutrn off the ensuing kick.
Joshua Dobbs is only getting his second start of his career, but he has looked poised in this do or die situation. He hit Okonkwo for the 21 yard catch for the opening TD of the game.
The Jags got off to a slow start after the early turnover, but Lawrence calmed the Jags down, going 11/13 for 98 yards and a TD. The run game hasn't done much, they have 16 yards on 7 carries.
Joshua Dobbs and the Titans offense has looked pretty good tonight, he is 12/15 for 114 yards and a TD, while Derrick Henry got 17 carries for 71 yards in the first half.

The Jags and the Titans met a month ago in Tennessee, and the Jags got their first of what would be a four game win streak coming into tonight. Trevor Lawrence has one of the best games of his career, going 30-42 and tossing three touchdowns in the 36-22 win. The Jags defense gave up 14 points in the first quarter but then contained Derrick Henry and the Titans offense the rest of the way. Since then the Titans have been in a free fall and the Jags have soared to the top of the division.
AFC Standings
There are just two playoff spots left in the AFC. The AFC South has yet to be decided. That division will have it’s winner in a matter of hours. There are four teams in contention for the Wild Card going into the final week, the Jaguars are one of them but the Titans are not. Tennessee needs to win this game, while the Jags theoretically could lose, but would need the Patriots, Dolphins and Steelers to lose their final games this weekend.

Titans last week
Tennessee got spanked by the Cowboys to drop their sixth straight game last Thursday. Mike Vrable decided to sit Derrick Henry, and benched Malik Willis in favor for Joshua Dobbs who got his first start of his career. Dobbs held on for a little while, but the Cowboys were too much for the Titans and they pulled away in the second half. Dobbs had 232 yards with a TD and one INT, but Dak Prescott led the Cowboys to a comfortable win in Nashville.
Jags keep it rolling
Jacksonville went into Houston knowing that a win against the Texans wasn’t a must, but they kept the train rolling in NRG Stadium with a blowout win. It was the run game that dominated the Houston defense, totaling 169 yard on the ground and getting into the end zone three times. Two quick fire TDs to start the second quarter put the game out of reach as Travis Etienne ran a 62 yard carry into the end zone and then Tyson Campbell ran a fumble back for a TD. The Jags cruised to a 31-3 win to seal their fifth win in six games.
