Texans 34 vs 10 Cowboys, Mixon three TD, summary: score, stats, highlights | NFL Week 11
Texans beat Cowboys 34-10
Mixon hat-trick leads Texans to victory over Cowboys
Things were doomed from the start for the Dallas Cowboys, who opened up the roof to the stadium only to have two metal slabs fall from it ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans.
Texans deliver Cowboys' fifth straight loss
The Texans beat the Cowboys in their Texas shootout in Arlington. The Cowboys fall to 3-7 on the season, suffering their fifth straight home loss this regular season, plus their fifth straight loss. The Texans improve to 7-4 with the victory.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud finished 23 of 34 for 257 yards, no touchdown passes, and one interception and added three carries for 26 yards. Running back Joe Mixon was the star of the game, finishing with 20 carries for 109 yards and three touchdowns. In wide receiver Nico Collins' return from his hamstring injury, he had four receptions on seven targets for 54 yards, although a 77-yard touchdown run on the first drive was called back due to a penalty. The Texans also had one defensive touchdown by defensive end Derek Barnett.
Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush finished 32 of 55 for 354 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Dallas' one touchdown was a 64-yard score by wide receiver KaVontae Turpin, who finished with three receptions for 86 yards. CeeDee Lamb led the receivers with eight receptions on 12 targets and 93 yards.
In stark contrast to the Texans' run game, Dallas' leading rusher was Rico Dowdle with 10 carries for 28 yards. The defense played better than usual with linebacker Eric Kendricks leading with nine tackles and five solos, while safety Malik Hooker had eight total tackles and three solos plus one interception. Kicker Brandon Aubrey missed a field goal, a rare occurrence from him, especially from an "easy" distance of 44 yards, but he slipped and it hit the post. He made one from 64 yards, but it was called back on a penalty on the Texans and didn't count.
The Cowboys suffered several injuries to key players, an unfortunate trend that's been happening all season. Tight end Jake Ferguson went out with a concussion and did not return. Guards Zack Martin and Tyler Smith, plus offensive tackle Tyler Guyton and defensive back Markquese Bell also left with injuries during the game.

GAME TIME!

There were actually TWO metal pieces that fell from the roof
The second piece didn't fall to the floor, but actually got lodged on a catwalk. Stadium workers chose to secure the metal piece for the safety of everyone in the stadium. The roof will remain closed during the game.
Cargando...
Cowboys' lack of a run game
For as bad as their defense is at stopping the run, the Cowboys' offense is even worse at running the ball.
Whether it's Rico Dowdle, Ezekiel Elliott, Dalvin Cook...it doesn't seem to matter. Dallas just can't get anything going on the ground, ranking 31st in rushing with an average 83.7 yards per game.
Cowboys run defense in for a challenge
The Cowboys are ranked 27th in the league in rushing yards allowed this season, allowing 152.1 yards per game. That's not a good sign as they look to face Texans running back Joe Mixon, who has an average of 98.3 yards per game, the third-highest average per game in the league. The Texans offense as a whole is averaging 119.
Stroud this year
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud hasn't had the crazy numbers he had in his rookie season last year, but he does rank seventh in passing yards with 2,371 yards.
However, he has been sacked 34 times, the second-most in the league, with his 269 yards lost on those sacks being the most by any player in the league.
He's also played four straight games with a passer rating below 100 and just two touchdowns and two interceptions through those games. The longest he went with a passer rating below 100 last year was three games.
With Dak Prescott out injured, Cooper Rush is set to continue as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback against the Houston Texans.

Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was listed as questionable for the Monday Night Football clash with the Houston Texans this weekend after dealing with a back injury, but now it looks like he's good to go.
The Texans have been without start wide receiver Nico Collins for four weeks and his absence was felt. But tonight, he's back to face their Texas opponents.
The metal that fell from the roof here at AT&T Stadium
Here's a look at the large piece of metal that fell from the roof of the stadium when the roof was opened. No word yet on if the game will need to be postponed for cleanup and/or safety precautions.
Cargando...
Just last week, the Cowboys were dealing with controversy when the sun shining into the stadium caused wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to miss a catch from quarterback Cooper Rush during their game against the Eagles. Jerry Jones, despite the sun being a recurring issue every season, refused to close the curtains for future games.
He did, however, decide to utilize the retractable roof and leave it open for tonight's game for the first time in two years - who knows why...
But that didn't go so well as a piece of metal fell onto the field just after it was opened, and the roof was closed again as tragedy was narrowly avoided.
Cowboys and Texans: Where they stand
Coming into tonight's MNF game, the Cowboys are on a four-game losing streak, sitting at 3-6 on the season, third in the NFC East, and haven't won a game at home all season. They are fresh off of a 34-6 loss to divisional opponents Philadelphia Eagles last week and they haven't scored a touchdown at home since October 7.
The Texans are at 6-4 on the season and are currently on a two-game losing streak, their last being a 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions. In that game, they blew a 23-7 first-half lead with two turnovers and a missed field goal in the second half. Still, they are leading in the AFC South, two games ahead of the Indianapolis Colts.
