Sammis Reyes received some bad news on Tuesday. The Washington Commanders have placed him on the Reserve/Injury list which effectively means that he will not play for the franchise again this year.

The Chilean is one of four players who will not be considered for the rest of the year. De’Vante Bausby and Deion Calhoun were released, while Reyes and Alex Armah were placed on the IR list.

Two options open for Sammis Reyes

Viewing the situation, there are two options open for the Chilean. The first, would be to continue with the team, focus on his recovery and to try to return to the official squad in 2023 - the year in which his contract with the Commanders will end. The alternative is to reach an agreement to terminate his contract with the Commanders and look for a new deal either for the current season or next season. Either way, both decisions would not be without risks.

The NFL 2022/23 season begins on 8 September. The Washington Commanders play their opening game on the 11th at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
