The incredible playoff stat that puts the Bills on Super Bowl watch

Another postseason victory for the Buffalo Bills put them in elite company, and if they follow in that company’s same path, they’re in it for the long haul.

Update:

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the NFL’s most consistent playoff teams in the modern era. Now, they’ve done something only three other franchises in league history have ever accomplished, and the implications are massive.

With their latest postseason victory, the Bills have now won at least one playoff game in six or more consecutive seasons, joining an ultra-exclusive club that includes the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs.

And here’s the part that makes the stat almost unbelievable: Every other team to reach that milestone went on to win at least three Super Bowls during that stretch.

The rare playoff company the Bills just entered

The teams Buffalo now stands alongside were NFL dynasties.

  • Dallas Cowboys (1991–1996): Six straight seasons with a playoff win, capped by three Super Bowl titles behind Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin.
  • New England Patriots (2011–2018): Eight consecutive seasons with a playoff win, resulting in three Super Bowl championships during Tom Brady’s second dynasty run.
  • Kansas City Chiefs (2018–2024): Seven straight years with at least one playoff victory and three Lombardi Trophies with Patrick Mahomes under center.

Now, the Bills have entered that same historical lane, but with one glaring difference. They’re still chasing their first Super Bowl title of the era.

Winning a playoff game year after year is harder than it sounds. It requires elite quarterback play, roster continuity, coaching stability, and the ability to adapt as the league adjusts to you. Buffalo has checked every one of those boxes with Josh Allen at the helm. Sustaining postseason success for six straight years places the Bills firmly in the NFL’s modern elite, no longer a feel-good contender, but a team expected to finish the job.

And history suggests that when a franchise reaches this level of sustained playoff dominance, championships tend to follow.
