Update:

The Los Angeles Rams went on the road and beat the Carolina Panthers over the weekend to continue their path to the Super Bowl. They are two wins away from returning to Super Sunday, and Sean McVay’s wealth playoff experience and an MVP candidate QB, you wouldn’t bet against them.

Sean’s strong start

At just 39 years old, there aren’t many boxes to check off the list for Sean McVay. He was named head coach of the Rams two weeks before his 31st birthday, making him the youngest coach in NFL history. In his first season he won Coach of the Year after leading LA to an 11-5 season.

Just a year later he became the youngest coach to reach the Super Bowl when the Rams went 13-3 and earned the one seed, a BYE and home field advantage in the NFC. McVay and his then QB Jared Goff cruised to the Super Bowl after beating the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints in the NFC title game.

They lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots that year, but they would be back in the 2020 season with a new QB and this time the Rams made Sean McVay the youngest coach to ever win a Super Bowl when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals from Sofi Stadium. McVay was 36.

Rams lock horns with Chicago on Saturday

In his nine season in LA, he has been to the playoffs seven times. In those seven trips to the playoffs he has had a chance to do something that would take other coaches decades. In nine seasons, he has coached against 14 NFL teams in the playoffs and on Sunday he will make it 15.

The only NFC teams he has yet to coach against in the postseason are the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants. You can “excuse” McVay for not having met either of those teams considering the Commanders have only been to the playoffs twice since he arrived in LA, and the Giants have only made the playoffs once in the last decade.

His record is 9-5 against the 14 teams he and the Rams have face in the playoffs after the win over the Carolina Panthers, who hadn’t been to the postseason since his rookie year as a head coach in the NFL. Now they will head to Chicago where he will check off the 15th team he will meet in the playoffs when the Rams meet the Bears on Sunday Night Football.
