The NFL’s financial stability suffered a big blow due to the coronavirus pandemic. Still, in the years after, the teams have become more valuable than ever, and it looks like that positive curve will continue to grow in the upcoming years. The average NFL team is now worth a record $5.54 billion, which translates into an 8% increase from last year.

According to Sportico, the Dallas Cowboys remain the richest team in the NFL, worth $10.32 billion. This is a 12% increase from 2023 and makes them the first team in league history to achieve a valuation of over $10 billion.

The Los Angeles Rams now hold the second spot, surpassing the New York Giants, with a valuation of $7.79 billion. The Giants dropped to third place, valued at $7.65 billion. One of the most notable upward movements is by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who climbed 12 spots to 16th place with a valuation of $5.5 billion, marking a 33% increase from their 2023 valuation of $4.15 billion. This growth coincided with Todd Bowles being appointed as head coach and Baker Mayfield taking over as the starting quarterback.

The Cowboys are on top again

Dallas hasn’t been able to win the Super Bowl since 1995, but that hasn’t prevented them from appearing in the first spot of the most valuable NFL franchises. The America’s Team leads the ranking for the 16th straight season. They generated $2.5 billion more in revenue than the second Los Angeles Rams.

Moreover, Jerry Jones’ franchise ranks as the most valuable in world sports, followed by the Golden State Warriors, according to the website Sportico’s NFL valuations.

This year’s list includes several movers and counters, with some teams making huge jumps to reflect their recent successes. The Miami Dolphins, who have signed QB Tua Tagovailoa to a new contract and have WR Tyreek Hill making impressive plays on the field weekly, have moved up five spots from 2023 to 2024. They are now ranked seventh at $6.76 billion, showing a 29% increase from 2023. Additionally, the Cleveland BrownsBuffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions have also moved up at least two spots in the rankings.
