NFL

The NFL player’s favorite NBA teams. Which team is cheering for Mahomes, Parsons, or Burrow...?

When they’re not on the football field, some NFL players and coaches enjoy watching basketball and cheering for their team of preference.

Update:
DALLAS, TEXAS - MAY 26: Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs look on during the fourth quarter of Game Three of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves at American Airlines Center on May 26, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. Professional athletes enjoy watching other sports for several reasons. They are competitive by nature and enjoy watching others compete. Additionally, their celebrity status benefits from being seen with other famous individuals. This exposure also provides content for their social media profiles. NFL stars and NBA players often support each other’s teams, creating a reciprocal arrangement.

Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, has been involved in multiple sports since childhood. He excelled in baseball and later showed talent as a basketball player during high school. His love for basketball has continued alongside his successful NFL career. Mahomes is also a dedicated fan of the Dallas Mavericks. This was evident when Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, attended a memorable trip to watch the Mavericks play in the playoffs, and they even invited their teammate, Travis Kelce, to join them. During the game, when Mahomes and Kelce were featured on the Jumbotron in Dallas, they received very different reactions from the home crowd. The Mavericks secured a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals with a win that night.

Micah Parsons

Parsons tweeted a photo of himself wearing a Tatum jersey at a game and joked about wanting to be a Patriot. Social media noticed he’s been seen wearing jerseys from different teams. A Twitter account combined photos of Parsons in different jerseys with a tweet where he claimed the Golden State Warriors as his team. Parsons retweeted it, jokingly saying, “Bro... starting next year, I’m claiming one team!!!” It seems Parsons is just having fun and not planning to stick to one team.

Joe Burrow

Quarterback Joe Burrow is a native of Athens, Ohio. He started his college career at Ohio State, transferred to LSU, and won the Heisman Trophy. Later, the Cincinnati Bengals chose him as the first pick, and since then, he has played in one Super Bowl. There is only one pro sports team that Burrow celebrates regularly, one team of which he’s clearly a fan—and that team is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Burrow was just a kid from Athens when LeBron James started his run in Cleveland. Burrow’s immediate allegiance makes sense, given that the Cavs are the only pro basketball team in the state.

He was a 19-year-old at Ohio State when James and the Cavs won their lone championship in 2016. While Burrow clearly loved the Cavs of James and Kyrie Irving (he admittedly was hurt when Irving demanded a trade). He was also a big fan of the former player, Matthew Dellavedova, and he openly campaigned for his return after he had left for the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency following the championship season.

Aaron Rodgers

Now with the New York Jets, Rodgers is backtracking after his disappointing first injury-marred season in the Big Apple.

Not only has Rodgers followed the Los Angeles Clippers in the past, but he’s now also thought to be the only active NFL player to hold a financial stake in an NBA team as a limited partner in the Milwaukee Bucks ownership group.
