Update:

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is expected to be one of the top five players to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. So, it was shocking to learn that he doesn’t actually plan to attend the draft in person to walk across the stage and shake hands with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Sanders’s alternative plans for the 2025 NFL Draft

Rather than attending the draft in person, Sanders is planning an event closer to home so that he can celebrate with his family and close friends without the stress of flying them all out to the draft at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

“We’ll most likely do Colorado or Dallas,” Sanders said. “We plan on doing like an event thing where it’ll be fun, it’ll be more family-friendly and friends will be able to come because the only thing with going to the draft, it’s just like I want to spend those moments with my people and you got to think, having everybody come out there, that’s going to be so expensive. So, cost-wise, you’re saving a lot of money. ”

It was a team thing - a team of people that helped me and allowed me to get to where I am now, so I want to make sure I get to be able to enjoy that with everybody and nobody be in uncomfortable situations for traveling just to show support,” he said.

While Sanders makes some good points, his teammate and Heisman winner Travis Hunter feels the opposite. The dual threat cornerback/wide receiver is expected to go in the top five as well and said he couldn’t imagine missing the draft.

“If I’m the No. 1 pick, I only get to walk that stage one time with a smile on my face,” Hunter said. “[I’ve] got to do it. The first person in my family to do it? Oh, I’m definitely doing it.”
