These are the highest paid NFL quarterbacks in 2024: List of top QB earners

Although Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the best in the league right now, he’s not the top paid by a mile. Here’s the top earners.

The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl winners and currently the only undefeated team in the league at 6-0 after Week 7. That‘s thanks in large part to their superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With all that success, you‘d think he’d be the highest-paid player in the league, or at least at his position. But alas, you’d be wrong.

In fact, the 3-3 Dallas Cowboys made quarterback Dak Prescott the highest-paid quarterback in the league when they signed him to a four-year, $240 million contract extension back in September just ahead of their regular-season opener. That brought his annual average salary to $60 million, beating out Jaguars‘ Trevor Lawrence, Packers’ Jordan Love, and Bengals’ Joe Burrow, who all earn an average of $55 million annually. In fact, Prescott is the highest-paid player in the league at any position, and his $80 million signing bonus also happens to be the largest ever in the NFL.

It was always known that Prescott would likely become the highest-paid quarterback in the league, and though he had a career year last season, it’s not because he’s the best of the best. Prescott is a good quarterback, but he struggles in the postseason. There were many critics who thought he shouldn’t get an extension and this big of a pay grade for that reason. However, the current market has been set, and this is where it stands.

NFL’s highest-paid quarterbacks in 2024

None of the league’s top 10 highest-paid quarterbacks have won a Super Bowl. Three-time champion, Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, is earning an average salary of $45 million and ranks 13th on the list of top-paid NFL quarterbacks. In fact, only three of the top 10 have even made it to the Super Bowl - Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Jared Goff - but none have won it.

Here’s a list of what each starting NFL quarterback is paid based on average annual salary from highest to lowest.
