Update:

Every year at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, prospects separate themselves with 40-yard dash times, vertical jumps, and position drills. On Sunday night, however, one offensive lineman managed to dominate the broadcast for an entirely different reason.

Meet Gennings Dunker, the red-haired Iowa Hawkeyes offensive tackle whose flowing mullet earned perhaps the most unexpected title of the 2026 Combine. According to Rich Eisen, it might be “the greatest mullet in the history of the combine.”

Who is Gennings Dunker?

Of course, Dunker isn’t in Indianapolis just to model elite 1980s-inspired aesthetics. The 22-year-old offensive tackle prospect comes out of Iowa, a program that has built a reputation as one of the most reliable pipelines for NFL-ready linemen. At over 6′5″ with the frame teams covet on the edge, Dunker fits the mold of a developmental tackle with upside.

Iowa’s system demands physicality in the run game and discipline in pass protection, traits that typically translate well on the professional level. Scouts evaluating Dunker see length, toughness, and positional value in a draft class that always places a premium on offensive line depth.

“The greatest mullet in the history of the Combine”

During the offensive line workouts, cameras caught Dunker in warmups and during his 40-yard dash, and that’s when the broadcast world took notice. On the NFL Network broadcast, Rich Eisen couldn’t help but react.

“Talk about the greatest mullet in the history of the combine!” Eisen exclaimed as slow-motion footage showed the red hair flowing behind Dunker mid-stride. The hair had volume. It had bounce. It had full business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back commitment.

“No matter what happens [in Indianapolis] in April, please know the most glorious Dunker in this building, this year, is the guy on the screen,” Eisen said on the NFL Network broadcast.

It’s easy to laugh it off as a viral moment, but Dunker found a way to stand out even if it wasn’t just for his performance. Bing remembered is important regardless. And despite not setting any Combine records, scouts will absolutely remember Gennings Dunker.

He arrived at the Combine as an offensive tackle prospect. He left as a folk hero of follicle greatness. And somewhere in the archives of NFL Network slow-motion footage, that red-haired masterpiece will live forever.
