The Bears have a new starting QB and the word is, he’s very good. The Titans have a new coach. and with that, we give you the odds and predictions.

With both teams effectively starting new chapters, there are plenty of talking points. From the highly anticipated debut of Chicago’s rookie quarterback to Tennessee’s new tactician, this one is going to be interesting, to say the least.

Titans - Bears: The lay of the land

When the Chicago Bears host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Soldier Field they will be taking their first steps in a new era with Caleb Williams as their starting quarterback. Indeed, the anticipation surrounding the No. 1 overall pick’s first game in the NFL has been intense, and with good reason given the kind of numbers he registered in his college career. Williams will be greeted by a fan base that is absolutely starving for success and with that, the pressure will be well and truly on.

  • Moneyline: Tennessee (+150), Chicago (-180)
  • Spread: Bears -3.5
  • Total: 44.5

Of course, there is a silver lining for the former USC star in that he will be provided with several weapons. From wideouts Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen, and DJ Moore to tight end Cole Kmet and running back D’Andre Swift, there is every reason to believe that the Bears can achieve more than their 7-10 record from last season. As for the Titans, they too are beginning a new phase in that the team now has a new coach in the form of Brian Callahan. Having spent the last five years as the Bengals’ OC, he’s now been given the keys to Chicago where he will need to quickly establish a functioning offense.

What that means is that his first objective will be to fine-tune his second-year quarterback, Will Levis, who it must be said showed flashes of brilliance during 2023, but undoubtedly needs to take things to the next level if the Titans are to make a solid run in 2024. With that, we’ve got to consider a few things in light of the odds that you can see above. For starters, there is the injury report which sees just one player ruled out in the form of Titans safety, Jamal Williams, who is dealing with a hip injury. What that means is that both teams come into this one with relatively healthy rosters.

That brings us back to the battle between the two aforementioned quarterbacks. Where Tennessee’s Levis is concerned, it is of the utmost importance that he improves this year after completing 58.4% of his passes for 1808 yards, 8 TDs, and 4 INTs as a rookie last season. As stated before, Levis shows all the indications that he could be a solid signal caller, but again, improvement is needed. Where Chicago’s prized possession is concerned, Williams comes into the NFL on a wave of hype. A former Heisman winner, there is no question that he’s got game, but the NFL is a different animal and so this is now about his ability to not just deliver, but deliver under pressure.
