Titans make big change to help struggling rookie quarterback
No. 1 draft pick Cam Ward has had a tough start to life with the Tennessee Titans, culminating with the dismissal of head coach Brian Callahan.

The Tennessee Titans have had a difficult start to the 2025 NFL season, parting ways with former head coach Brian Callahan after just six games.
The Titans won just one of their first six games before Callahan was moved on, leaving Mike McCoy as the interim coach. It’s been a baptism of fire for rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick from the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ward is currently tied for the second-most turnovers in the league and is yet to develop a real understanding with the Tennessee offense. In a bid to help ease his adaptation in the NFL, the Titans have reportedly sought to reduce the offensive playbook under McCoy.

ESPN reports that the Titans have simplified the offense heading into the Week 7 game against the New England Patriots. Former assistant offensive line coach Scott Fuchs and offensive assistant coach Matt Jones will take charge of the offensive line on an interim basis, after the departure of Bill Callahan, father of Brian.
Bill Callahan is considered one of the best offensive line coaches in NFL history and he had been a key part of the organization while his son was head coach.
Given the coaching change, inexperience of the quarterback and general organization uncertainty, a simplification of the playbook should suit all involved. The Buffalo Bills did something similar in 2018, during Josh Allen’s rookie season and they have since reaped the rewards with one of the league’s best QBs.
