Titans 16 vs 20 Steelers summary, stats, score and highlights | NFL Week 9
Levis drove the Titans down the field and gave the Steelers a scare but it was Kwon Alexander who made the big play for the home side.
It had been since the days of Big Ben that Dionte Johnson had scored a TD, but he snapped that streak with a go ahead TD from three yards out with under 4:00 to go. Talk about a good time to end the slump. That catch was worth it's weight in gold for a Steelers team that is trying to keep pace in the AFC.
Derrick Henry punched his way into the endzone from 2 yards out, but only got 17 carries on a night that the Titans rookie was going to need all the help he could get.
Henry went for 75 yards and this TD in Pittsburgh.
Will Levis made his second NFL start after introducing himself to the world last week. He may not have won, but he went 22/39 for 262 yards on another impressive outing from the rookie.
The Steelers won the toss, and strangely choose to receive, but it worked out for them. They drove all the way down the field and capped off their opening TD drive with a 9 yard Najee Harris run.

Not the best stats, but they pack a punch
Where would this team be without this defense? It’s the only reason the Steelers are still in the hunt in the AFC North. Statistically, the Steelers aren’t a top unit on the defensive side of the ball, but that’s because they have to be on the field so much. Pittsburgh’s offense doesn’t do them any favors, going three and out way too often. They give up 382 yards a game, which is 30th in the league, above only the Chargers and the Broncos. They are 18th in ppg allowed, giving up 21 an outing.
QB1 battling rib injury
Kenny Pickett went down after a questionable tackle that many in Pittsburgh were expecting to see a penalty. Instead no flag flew and Pickett went bent over holding his ribs and would eventually miss the rest of the game. He plans to play tonight, telling reporters “for sure” when asked if he’s was going to be available against the Titans. although there is no doubt that he is still walking around in plenty of pain, expect the Steel City QB to gut it out tonight at Acrisure.
Can Levis have a repeat performance?
For those of you who don’t know, Will Levis was the most talked about QB not names Anthony Richardson, CJ Stroud and Bryce Young. He was relatively unknown when he entered the draft after a great season at Kentucky. He didn’t make noise on Selection Sunday because of his play or his stats, he made more headlines as the mayo drinking, ladies man that the Titans figured would make a great fit in Tennessee. So far so good. He threw for 238 yards and 4 TDs, on 19/29 passing. Everyone will be licking their chops to have another look at the rookie, but remember this is a short week the Titans are playing on. Prepping for a game is tough enough when you have a full week. Let alone prepping for the Steelers in three days.
The King wants to reclaim his crown
From an outsiders perspective, it seems like too easy of a plan to win football games. You have one of the greatest RBs the league has ever seen, and when he gets 20+ carries, it translates to Tennessee wins. Last week, for the third time all season, the Titans reached that milestone, handing it off to Henry 21 times and he didn’t disappoint. He went for 101 yards, in what many though was an audition for Henry’s potential suitors in the trade deadline. The Titans were able to work their magic and hang on to the generational running back, and now that the offense looks to be coming together, The King might be able to lead the Titans to the playoffs, but it all starts with a win tonight to keep the momentum alive.
Return of the Steel Curtain?
Somethings got to give for the Steelers. Their defense is too good to be this bad. If we are being fair, they are 4-3 after 7 games, but that is mostly because of the scoring plays that either TJ Watt of Alex HIghsmith make. Pittsburgh is scoring just 16.1 points a game, but that would be much lower if the offense didn’t get some serious help from the defense. Tonight, as every night in the Steel City, they need to score some points, or it can turn into an awfully long night for offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
Titans last week
Finally, the Titans put a performance together that will give the fans something to cheer about in the Music City. It was largely attributed to rookie Will Levis who went wild on the Falcons defense. In his debut, he passed for 4 TDs, hitting Deandre Hopkins on three of the passes and causing a stir not seen since Derrick Henry was drafted. That didn’t mean that the Titans breezed by the Falcons, they won by just 5 points and the Falcons had a chance to take the lead late.
Steelers last week
It was a perfect home game for the Steelers who love to get down and dirty in the slop and in the cold. The Jaguars, not so much. But that didn’t slow down Trevor Lawrence who torched one of the best defensive units in the league. There wasn’t much TJ Watt or Alex Highsmith could do to prevent the QB with the surfer boy hair threw for almost 300 yards as the Steelers second year quarterback was sidelined with a rib injury halfway through the game. That meant Mitch Trubisky had to come off the bench, but he was just as ineffective as Pickett was against a strong Jacksonville side.
We are live from Acrisure
Hello everyone and welcome to the Steel City where Pittsburgh is back at home following their loss to Jacksonville last week. Now on a short week and with injuries on both sides of the ball Mike Tomlin’s team need a rebound game against a Titans team that lit up the scoreboard for the first time all season. Will Levis had a debut of dreams and as an added bonus the Titans kept hold of their franchise player over the last decade once the trade deadline closed.
Titans vs. Steelers live
Week 9 kicks off with an AFC showdown between two teams trying to sort things out on the offensive side of the ball. The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of an disappointing loss to the Jaguars while the Titans feel that they might have found the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to scoring touchdowns. AS English will be with you all night long providing live coverage, stats, scores and highlights of tonight’s primetime game from Acrisure Stadium.
