Tom Brady feels the wrath of Josh Allen on Twitter

It would appear the league legend bit off more than he could chew when it came to the Bills’ young quarterback.

The three-time league MVP definitely wasn’t on the winning side in his battle with Josh Allen this time.

The Match: Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers vs Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen

Believe it or not some of the NFL’s top quarterbacks are set to face off against each other not in an exhibition game, but a golf match. Indeed, in an upcoming event called ‘The Match VI,’ Tom Brady who has been paired with current league MVP Aaron Rodgers, will take on young gun Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. ‘The Match’ is a Capital One’s 12-hole event that will take place at Wynn Las Vegas on June 1st.

It should be said that since it was first held on Thanksgiving back in 2019, when it was built around a Tiger Woods vs Phil Mickelson ticket, the event has seen a slew of other celebrity athletes such as Steph Curry, Charles Barkley and an array of QBs from the NFL. This year’s game will be the first without Woods or Mickleson, but should bring no less attention as each of the players involved are widely popular. To date ‘The Match’ has been a large economic success, raising more than $33 million for charity.

Tom Brady gets owned by Josh Allen

As arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, attention will always be focused on Tom Brady’s onfield prowess. There is, however, another attribute that he has always excelled at and that’s trash talking. In fact one could argue that there is nothing that TB12 loves more. Just moments after the announcement for the previously mentioned ‘The Match’ was made, Brady who will be making his third appearance in the event, having previously played alongside Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, took to social media where he directly called out Allen. In his post, the Buccaneers’ QB - shirtless no less - jokingly makes refence to the idea that playing against Allen will be comparable to watching his own son play.

Was it clever and funny? Perhaps, but what came next made was a brutal response. Referencing Brady’s recently unveiled clothing line, Allen may well have damaged sales with his rebuttal. ‘Touchdown Bills.’

Josh Allen the golfer?

Interestingly, Josh Allen is quite the golf enthusiast and has on varying occasions made reference to the game and it’s ethos. Earlier this year while playing in the Pebble Beach Pro he said, “If I can golf every day, I would.” In that same event Allen was paired with pro Keith Mitchell to finish a respectable 15-under par. Then of course there was Halloween last year, when the Bills’ playmaker along with the other quarterbacks on the roster arrived for their clash with the Dolphins dressed as golfers. Allen would later explain after the 26-11 win that he was inspired by Mickelson’s visit to their training camp. “He talked about finding your Zen, finding your calm,” Allen said. “And I don’t play good when I’m pissed off and frustrated, and I think that was kind of causing some issues early on.”

Tom Brady accepts defeat

Though anyone - Brady included - could have quickly pointed out that Brady’s NFL record against Allen is not in favor of the Bills’ QB - it’s 4-0 - it appears that Brady understood along with the rest of us that he had in fact been owned. Indeed, Brady quickly took to social media once again to offer the white flag - in this case a red card - with a laugh. What remains to be seen now is with helmets and pads off, can the pair deliver the same kind of fireworks as their opening round would seem to suggest?

What about Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes?

Though the league’s current MVP is definitely not modest when it comes to his abilities - rightly so - the irony is he’s actually a pretty decent golfer. Indeed, Rodgers is likely the best golfer out of the four. The Packers’ main main has actually appeared at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am in the past. Mahomes and the combative Allen on the other hand, are new boys on the block when it comes to the televised golf scene. Where the Chiefs’ QB is concerned, it should be said that he’s not a complete novice having been seen often at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe.
