Tom Brady roasted by fans for his “sad boy” Instagram era
Former quarterback Tom Brady is getting roasted on the internet for his latest Instagram selfies, which users are relating to a schoolgirl with a crush.

Tom Brady has won seven Super Bowls, conquered just about every NFL record imaginable, and yet, his latest Instagram selfies are some of the most cringe things the internet has seen in a while. And people couldn’t help but notice he’s posting like a teenage girl with a crush.
Tom Brady’s cringey Instagram selfies
Over the weekend, the retired quarterback shared a series of Instagram Story selfies that immediately sent fans into detective mode. The photos themselves were selfies of Brady lounging at home, hoodie on, set to the tune of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside”, and with captions that were...a little soft. Maybe even a little sad boy.
And, as it’s wont to do, that’s when the internet pounced.
“He’s posting like a girl who has a crush,” content creator Kelli Williams joked on social media, a post that quickly went viral and set the tone for how fans would interpret Brady’s posts.
Others chimed in with comparisons to post-breakup college Instagram behavior, while some summed it up more bluntly: GOAT quarterback, divorced dad energy.
Brady, who later deleted one of the selfies, didn’t explain the posts, which naturally only fueled more speculation. Was he bored? Soft-launching a crush? Just vibing on a Sunday? The lack of context didn’t matter. The internet had already decided this was a Moment™.
Since finalizing his divorce from Gisele Bündchen in 2022, Brady has been candid about throwing himself into work, his kids, and new business ventures while also admitting he doesn’t have much time for a personal life. That already made the cozy selfies seem like accidental emotional transparency.
Fans also couldn’t help but note the song choice. “Mr. Brightside” is practically the national anthem of spiraling thoughts and imagined romantic scenarios, which only added to the armchair psychoanalysis.
To be clear, none of this means Brady was actually trying to get anyone’s attention. But that didn’t stop social media from doing what it does best...projecting, joking, and collectively roasting a famously controlled public figure for having a slightly too-relatable Sunday.
