Update:

Tom Brady is known for more than a few things, but first and foremost, he is knows for being the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Second, he is known as one of the fiercest competitors around. That spirit came out on Saturday night during the statue reveal outside of Foxborough Stadium.

Brady hasn’t forgotten about old enemy

It’s been five years since Brady left New England in what could be described as an icy parting of ways. His love for the team and the fans never changed, but his relationship with coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft had reached a boiling point and the winningest QB in history left the winningest team in history in not the friendliest of terms.

Now, half a decade later, relationships have been mended and the GOAT was honored by Kraft and the Patriots with a larger than life statue of Brady on Saturday night. Brady used his patented mix of charm, charisma and wit in his speech once the statue was unveiled. “This is quite overwhelming to me,” the 48-year-old said. “I feel extremely honored, deeply grateful and, if I’m being honest, kind of old,” said Brady.

The 48 year old, who still looks like he can strap on the pads and play, went on to take a shot at the Patriots division rivals the, New York Jets, in his speech. “This statue isn’t just for Pats fans. It’ll also give all the Jets fans something to throw their beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the 2nd quarter,” joked Brady.

A new chapter in the Jets-Pats rivalry coming

Brady has a right to jab at the Jets considering his win percentage against New England’s main rival. He went 31-8 against the Jets over his 23 year career. In that time there was no love lost between the two teams that are closest in proximity in the AFC East.

Over the last two years, the two teams have split the series, with each team winning two games and losing two games. Neither team has been close to being a contender since Brady left the AFC East, but the Jets have a new QB in Justin Fields and a new coach in Aaron Glenn and the Pats have a budding QB in Drake Maye who will be under the wing of New England legendary linebacker Mike Vrable.

All in all, Brady won 6 Super Bowls, three MVPs, holds the record for completions (7,753), passing yards (89,214) and TD passes (649). Now he has moved up to the commentary booth, which will make things interesting should he ever have to go to The Meadowlands to commentate a Jets game, because their fans won’t forget the dig the GOAT took at them during the trophy presentation.
