After Tom Brady finally retired from the NFL as a player, he was given a massive contract to work for FOX Sports as an announcer. He made his broadcasting debut last week when he called the Dallas Cowboys’ 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns in Ohio. As one of the best quarterbacks to play the game, and with such a massive contract - $375 million over 10 years - of course Brady’s broadcasting debut was one of the most highly-anticipated ever. And it was...okay.

Mixed reviews on Brady’s debut

Brady seemed nervous in the beginning, but got more comfortable as the game went on. Still, he mostly just stated the obvious, saying things like in order to go forwards, they have to stop going backwards and “negative plays really keep you from scoring”. Incredible football insight from the GOAT himself, people.

At least his former coach Bill Belichick, who he mentioned a few times, thought he was “great”.

“I think that he had a lot better day when Dallas went to Cleveland than I had in my first game in Cleveland when Dallas came in,” said Belichick, referring to his head coaching debut with the Browns in 1991, when they lost 26-14 to the Cowboys. To be fair...that’s not saying much.

Brady spent his entire “gap year” (between playing and announcing) studying and preparing to become a football commentator, but again, this was his first experience actually doing so live, and with all this pressure and eyes on him, we can’t expect him to be perfect, can we? Besides, he probably puts enough pressure on himself for all of us. Then again...$375 million. Plus let’s not forget, the demotion of the actually experienced announcer Greg Olsen. Get it together, Tom!

But I digress. Let’s get into the rest of Brady’s 2024 NFL schedule.

Tom Brady to broadcast Cowboys vs Saints in Week 2

After his debut in Week 1, FOX Sports has now announced Brady’s Week 2 game. Brady and play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, plus sidleine reporters Erin Andrews and Tim Rinaldi, will again call the Cowboys game, this time in Dallas as they host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Cowboys are coming off that big road win in Cleveland, and the Saints are also coming off a huge 47-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. This game is not expected to be quite the blowout the Browns vs Cowboys game was, so perhaps Brady will have an easier time.

The majority of Brady’s assignments ha not yet been announced, but let’s take a look at which games FOX is slated to cover each week throughout this season to see which ones Brady and Burkhardt could potentially cover.
