For the first time in Tom Brady’s 23-year NFL career, the star quarterback did something he had never done before, and not something he’s proud of.

On Sunday, Brady’s team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, held a 17-10 lead over the Cleveland Browns late in the fourth quarter. Browns TE David Njoku then made an impressive catch on fourth down in the back of the end zone, which allowed Cleveland to tie the score with just 32 seconds remaining. They ended up winning the game 23-17 in overtime.

The Bucs’ loss marked the first time that a Brady-led team has ever been defeated after leading in the final two minutes of regulation by seven or more points.

Before Sunday, Brady’s teams were 218-0 when leading in that scenario.

That is exceptionally impressive. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has obviously received much help from his defenses in those scenarios, but the record is a demonstration of how well Brady has played in the clutch.

The 45-year-old won the coin toss in OT and had two opportunities to bring together game-winning drives. But Brady ended up finishing 29/43 for 246 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

There would have been a chance the star quarterback improved that score to 219-0, but he needed to be more accurate on some long throws.
