Update:

It was a game to forget for Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran quarterback endured one of his worst performances in recent memory as the Steelers fell 25–10 on the road to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night.

Rodgers hits season low in Steelers’ loss to Chargers

Rodgers, 41, finished the game with just 161 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, completing 16 of 31 passes with a passer rating of 50.6. A late garbage-time touchdown slightly improved the numbers, but it did little to change the overall impression. This was one of Rodgers’ ugliest outings as a Steeler and nearly one of the worst of his storied career.

Midway through the fourth quarter, his passer rating dipped as low as 19.5, with fewer than 100 yards through the air. It was dangerously close to eclipsing his previous career low of 34.3, recorded against the Buffalo Bills back in 2014.

The struggles began early. In the first quarter, Rodgers was sacked in the end zone by Khalil Mack, resulting in a safety that gave the Chargers their first points of the game. Later, an interception intended for DK Metcalf set up Los Angeles’ first touchdown. By halftime, the four-time MVP had completed just seven of 14 passes for 64 yards, with the Steelers trailing 12–3.

After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin offered a pointed but brief response when asked to evaluate Rodgers’ play: “How would you?” he replied tersely, before moving on to the next question, displaying the growing frustration in Pittsburgh’s locker room.

The loss dropped the Steelers to 5–4, tightening an already competitive AFC North race. They’ll return home next week for a divisional matchup against the 3-6 Cincinnati Bengals (3–6), a game that could prove crucial in determining whether Rodgers and the Steelers can keep their playoff hopes alive.
